I first tried this restaurant a few years ago for takeaway when I was working nearby. Me and my supervisor liked it but we didn’t go back due to our working hours the restaurant opening times. However earlier this year I was in Finsbury Park with some friends and we decided we all fancied Caribbean and went to dine in. Well, well, well. Where to start?! The food is INCREDIBLE. My friend and I shared their sweet potato cheesy bake starter and were literally in food heaven. I had jerk chicken for mains and she had curry goat and boy both were delicious!! I’ve had 2 takeaways from here since during the pandemic and both times they’ve been exceptional. And absolutely always delivered with a smil...
Just visited this restaurant our first visit to a restaurant since lockdown and what a great experience! A very relaxed atmosphere. The food was good and reasonably priced. Not the best salt fish fritter that I've had but the veg roti was delicious. Son had shrimp roti which he said was good too. Hubby enjoyed his Oxtail and Bean with Rice and Peas. We had sides. Fried plantain was lovely. The portions are a good size and we've ended up taking some of the food away. They have a good selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails, wines and beers. So happy we made this our first eat out since this awful pandemic and for a special occasion too. We'll definitely be back!
I have visited this restaurant three times. The first two visits left me extremely impressed with the food. However, on the third visit with a large group of friends, the food was still good but not as exceptional. The fish escovitch was delicious and the saltfish fritters were outstanding. The curried goat, lamb shoulder, and chicken were all tasty. We all loved the pholoures and Chanda. Overall, everyone had a great time, although one person thought the jerk chicken was too spicy. I am deducting one star because the restaurant is in need of refurbishment to match the high standard of the food.
I ordered a soup, 2 sides, and a drink for delivery. When the food was delivered half of drink was in the bag. All my food was soaked in fruit punch. I called the store for a very rude staff member to say “if I want a refund I can come to the store”. I explained that it is late and I couldn’t come so could someone not come and collect the food or bring the refund. He was very rude and I Will not be ordering from here again. As a West Indian, I know how our food from the English-speaking Islands should taste. This was cooking from Trinidad at its BEST. The portions were generous and the presentation was good. I had a good Roti which came with small side dishes of Tamarind sauce, Channa, a vegetable curry. I had a Mauby to drink also. My only issue was that it needs a bit of a refurbish especially the toilet area and the water pot for washing was not necessary at all! The toilets were very clean.
Probably the best jerk chicken I’ve had, perfect combo of levels of spice and flavours! Complimented nicely by the perfectly cooked rice and peas, generously sized dumpling as well as sweet, moorish plantain. The sorrel juice was incredible too, this was the first time I’ve tried it. I’m not from London but I will definitely be making detours to eat here again, I even made a detour to come back the same night to tip. Thank you.
We called ahead to make a reservation and were told by a young man that it would be fine for our family of 5 to come. However, he failed to mention the strong sewage odor inside the restaurant. It was clear that there was a serious issue, so we were shocked that the establishment was still open. We quickly left, feeling nauseated, only to be greeted by an Ubereats driver picking up food. Absolutely revolting!
I ordered three lamb rotis and had been eagerly anticipating them all day, but I was very disappointed with what I received. The quality was not the same as it used to be; there was an overwhelming amount of pepper that overpowered the flavor of the meat. First time going there with friends. The food was cooked well and tasted amazing. The portions was just right for the price. We will definitely be going again.
