We had a wonderful experience dining at Mac's. On a whim, we decided to give it a try and discovered a fantastic hidden gem. The service was outstanding, and our food arrived quickly and piping hot as soon as we were seated. The wait for a table was minimal—under 5 minutes—which seems to be typical for locals. Just a quick note: Mac's only accepts cash, so be sure to come prepared. If you happen to forget, there's an ATM conveniently located at the entrance with a small $2.75 fee. The menu offered a great variety that made choosing our meals a real pleasure.
Great old-fashioned diner with great food and fantastic service. When I sat next to me on the counter, an older gentleman was with a heavy accent that told me that he came to breakfast every day, even though it was a long ride. The best breakfast in Chicago, he insisted, and I have no reason to doubt him. My breakfast was perfect as good as I ever had in a diner. Remarkably less fat than most. The woman who works at the counter asked me if I wanted to see a newspaper! Can't remember the last time it happened. What a nice touch. Very recommended!
Great food, Great service, good prices and the food came out hot and quick. Our first time here and we will definitely be back. We walked in with our fussy two year old and one of the workers (maybe owner/manager) handed our daughter a little tub with toys which I thought was nice. Our coffee was kept filled at all times. I had French toast and sausage. The mister had the corn beef and hash. The baby had scrambled eggs. We all enjoyed our food. The diner gave me a mom and pops place kind of vibe

Food and staff are absolutely amazing. If I lived closer I would eat there literally every single day. The 50s music playing in the background. You can see the cook cook your food right in front of you. It’s something out of happy days. Prices are great. I ordered the Greek chicken wrap and it was amazing. My girlfriend ordered a burger and it was so big she couldn’t even finish it everything was cooked perfectly. Cannot say enough about it.
I ordered the eggs florintine and it was incredible somehow light yet full of flavor. Two of the hardest things to execute in my opinion for short order breakfast were especially impressive: poached eggs and holindaise sauce. Wow. Just blown away. And by the way the plate was room temp but the food was steaming within maybe three minutes of my order. I grew up in Chicago and as far as I can tell, this is the best diner in town.
After a crazy night in the concert, we needed food. My wife found this place online and it wasn't far from where we were. I'm glad we left. You could say there are many locals eating there and it felt like everyone knew each other. The food was super fresh, hot and delicious. Even the mussels tried breakfast. Yum. We're coming back! Family friendly.
The service was incredibly friendly! The food was excellent, and the staff were fantastic. Our waitress made sure my coffee cup was always full and hot! It was a wonderful dining experience, and the hot sauce for my eggs was outstanding. As soon as I saw corned beef hash on the menu, I knew this was the kind of place I’d love.

Hey, you can't miss Mac. In 1985, breakfast was $2.00 for eggs, ham, hash brews and pancakes. Today it's $8,95 and still a bargain. The same great food; the same great service. If you didn't try, you owe it to yourself.
