In a nutshell: Service great Food, not so great! In fact, a long, long way from great. Think miles. Hmmm. Where to start... The staff were really pleasant and accommodating. We had a dog with us so we needed to sit on the patio and one of the waitresses was very nice and went to extra trouble to make sure the dog (and we) were comfortable. The patio was pleasant but I could have done without the heavy metal music. Why anyone would presume the majority of their customers like that genre of music is beyond me. It was akin to a fly buzzing around your head the whole time, just irritating. The menu looked great and had a wide selection but upon closer inspection, I found it was very odd in terms...
The food was average so for that they probably deserve a 3. But when it takes 30 min to make a burger/fries and souvlaki/salad now you are looking at a 2..but after I asked why it took so long you choose to first blame a big call in order ahead of mine (btw it was 3 clubs and a salad) and then me, the customer, for ordering something took a long time to cook.... that behaviour deserves this review and the 1 star! Next time let your customers know if it will be slow.. people are usually understanding and sympathetic.. and if you do screw up a simple We are sorry and piece of pie is a way better strategy than blaming your customers.
My wife and I had lunch here on Sunday. The restaurant is quaint but had a funny smell. Like some kind of cleaning product. Not too appealing. It wasn't bad enough to force us to leave so we ordered a couple of sandwiches. You had an option of fries, salad or soup included in the $10.00 per sandwich so that was great. Most places charge that much for the sandwich alone. The service was fine and the server was pleasant. All in all We would recommend it.
I really don't understand the negative reviews I've seen. I've visited Merrickville multiple times for work, and this restaurant is always my top choice. The food tastes fantastic, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. Plus, the service is prompt and the servers are friendly. I always feel welcomed in this town, and the family atmosphere at this charming Mainstreet Family Restaurant is wonderful! Thank you!
Mediocre food, but excellent service. We dropped by for a quick meal. Normally, we choose Baldachin when we're in Merrickville, but opted for Mainstreet this time. I tried the Philly Cheesesteak - it wasn't exactly traditional, but it was tasty. The fries were just standard frozen ones. The beer selection could definitely use improvement. Overall, it's not a bad place; it just lacks a memorable impact.
A friend and I went here for dinner last night for the first time and while the food was good the service was not so good. The waiter was slow and forgetful. We waited almost 10 minutes for water when we arrived! And when she brought that she didn't even take our orders. We will most likely go for a second time just because we did enjoy our meals.
Back at Main Street for supper while passing through Merrickville on our boat. Once again we had a delicious supper. Had the pizza that is really very good ! The service is always great. Friendly staff that make you feel at home. Thank you to our server Jane for nice evening and good food.
The food is average, but they offer daily specials at reasonable prices. A major highlight of this location is the patio, which is a great spot to enjoy during the summer.
We just had a fantastic lunch and cold beer in this patio. Great spot! Service was friendly and quick. The club sandwich was very good. I will definitely go back.
