Maki Yaki Japanese Restaurant is simple and delicious. They have a few different hand rolls to choose from or you can go with the set menus. If you don't like a particular roll in the set menu, you can always substitute it for something else. The yellowtail hand roll is my favorite but If they have the uni roll available, I would recommend trying it. There hand rolls are made after you finish the previous hand roll so that the seaweed is nice and crunchy. It is all bar seating so try going with 4 or less in a party or break up your party to get seated quicker. It is hard to find street parking but they have a parking garage next to the restaurant.
We ordered there today, the first time. We ordered Salmon Teriyaki and Tuna Poke bowl. My husband usually is very picky but he said this salmon teriyaki’s the best he ever had, not too raw and not too old, just properly done with perfect flavor. I’m quite satisfied with my poke too. One of the best. Only thing I hope they can do better is that I hope they could have indoor or outdoor seating instead of serving only takeouts. We would revisit anyway.

I also enjoyed my poke, one of the best I've had. The only improvement I hope for is that they offer inside or outside seating instead of just takeout. We would definitely come back again.
The sushi at this restaurant is fantastic. I visited Dana Point and this place really delivered. The flavors were fresh and delicious. The Jalapeño peppers were especially tasty, although I would have preferred them to be a bit more crunchy.

We had Korean spicy noodles, fried oysters and firecracker rolls. They're all delicious! This is by far the best Japanese restaurant we have ever tried here!
The manager there was very rude and was not welcoming. Will never come there again or recommend to anyone.
Cheap and very fresh sushi. Great chicken dishes. Great atmosphere. Sit and eat or take home.
