Once inside, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We decided against appetizers, but we were treated to warm focaccia served with garlic-infused olive oil. Trust me, resist the urge to fill up on the bread and oil!
For his meal, my husband ordered the angel hair pasta with garlic and olive oil. I chose the beef ravioli with marinara and decided to add a large meatball, which alone could be a meal by itself! I also enjoyed a glass of Moscato. We were both so full that we couldn’t finish our meals and requested doggy bags. The server packed up our leftovers, including the remaining bread, which was a nice touch—I thought that level of service had disappeared during the pandemic.

We started with the garlic knots, which were fantastic, and I moved on to their signature pink sauce, which was equally delightful. We were also impressed by the flexibility of their menu—sauces, mix-and-match options, and additions. The chef is versatile and skilled, and everything was cooked to perfection. Even my mom's traditional spaghetti and meatballs had a unique twist and were incredibly tasty (I couldn’t resist sneaking a bite or two when she wasn’t looking).

I have been coming to Mama D’s for decades. The Hermosa Beach location is quaint and cozy with an authentic Italian feel. You may have to wait for a bit to get a table, but it is well worth the wait!The food is exceptional, reasonably priced, and served in hearty portions. Wow, Mama D's! What a delightful experience filled with authentic Italian flavors and warm, family-style hospitality. Brent provided exceptional service, recommending the Gypsy Roma pasta, which was both delicious and brimming with flavor. We had a fantastic time and can't praise the level of service and attentiveness from Brent enough. He even overheard that someone in our group had a birthday coming up and generously brought out an extra drink and a shareable dessert! All of his wine recommendations were excellent as well. Mama D’s always delivers. The food is amazing, served piping hot, and authentically old world Italian. (I especially love the stuffed mushrooms, Chicken Dave, and anything with their famous Pink Sauce!)The service is always flawless whether it’s Gerson, Katy, Danny, Anton, or Jose. Even Chris the owner works the tables and he’ll even have a magic trick or two for the kids.If you haven’t visited Mama D’s in Hermosa Beach, then it’s a long overdue experience. Enjoyed our dining experience at Mama D’s. The entire staff was wonderful, they know how to take care of their guests. The food was delicious! You have to try the pink sauce. Despite of the place being small, it’s still very cozy and certainly worth the wait. Please do give Mama D’s a visit, you won’t be disappointed.Food: 5/5

Been to Mamma D's several times and the food is consistently excellent. Not a franchise taste, but fresh and with great flavors. Atmosphere is homey and friendly where they remember you and provide superb service. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
