After reading positive reviews from Joe K , Kan Do  & Ronnielui2003 , I finally made my way to Mama Malaya. The family operated eatery specializes in traditional Malaysian cuisines. After reviewing their vast selection, we ordered Roti Canai (Indian bread with curry dipping sauce), Har Mee (prawn noodle soup) and Char Kueh Teow (stir fried flat rice noodle). Roti Canai made a welcoming start to this meal. The Indian bread was flaky, oily and soft with an addictive buttery scent. I bookmarked this eatery after reading the first review by Grace Lung. Positive reviews followed soon after from Ronnie Lui and Kan Do. It's a 45 minute drive and I had to do it today. Arriving at 12.10pm I can smell the delicious aroma of wok fried noodles from the carpark. Introducing myself as a fellow Malaysian I spoke to the Bee, the owner/chef who is from Johor. This eatery is family operated, opening a year ago. I sense she is an accomplished Malaysian chef and she intends to introduce more Malaysian dishes to the menu. I order the Curry Puffs, Roti Canai and Har Mee (Prawn Soup Noodles). I am anticipating a good Saturday lunch as Bee exudes confidence when we discuss her signature...

We came here for lunch based on the very positive review from Ronnielui2003. Thank you Ronnie for finding this place. It is a tiny restaurant which looks neat and well ordered. We ordered curry puffs, nasi lemak and mee goreng. Mrs Kan Do and I were looking forward to some excellent Malaysian food, which is not easy to get in Brisbane. The curry puffs came out freshly fried. This was a good dish. It is hard to find curry puffs with good flavour and I was very happy with these. The filling was delicious and piping hot and the pastry was crunchy. I would rate these easily a 4. The nasi lemak was also a very good dish. We had to go to Underwood to get new tyres for my car. Suddenly I realised that we were just up the road from Mama Malaya! After advising Johnk2154 of this predicament, it was a no brainer of where we were having lunch....yippeeee! After the review by Joe K we started with the Roti Canai. Hubby chose the Hor Fun Combination and on special was the Chicken Satay Skewers, so I chose those. The bread with the curry sauce was wonderfully flakey, but really wanted some more of this winderful bread to soak up the curry 3.5/5. The Hor Fun Combination was amazing. Do not understand why my previous reviews have been erased so it should be the time to refill a new one.Let me name the current business the second generation of Mama Malaya. Remember that I was the first one who wrote the review for the first generation and this local gem was then popular among Malaysian food lovers. The Chang of management had made me disappointed and I admitted that I missed the previous management. Having said that the second generation seems growing up now. It doesn't look too great from the outside But don't let that fool you Cheap lunch specials and authentic I've had the Har Mee, Hokkien Mee, Nasi Lemak
