I'm sick and tired with both big chain restaurants and restaurants that use big fancy words to describe their food, which in most cases translates to small overpriced dishes that are not too special. My goal was to find a locally owned family style restaurant...this led us to Mama Sanninos! The place was packed, good sign in my book, and after a small wait we were seated. I was thrilled to find out we were being waited on by none other than Mama Sannino herself! We ordered the Crispy Ravioli for an appetizer and it was delicious! Family owned restaurant that has been in this location for 8 years, but has been serving Denver Italian food for decades. Mama Sanninos is a classic family owned family friendly Italian restaurant that serves all the classics. I got my food to go but had a look at the interior and it was a nice little spot that had that family owned feel. I got the lasagna which was absolutely amazing, the marinara sauce was perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of cheese and portion in this $20 dish. The pastas had an option to come with salad or soup, so I tried the hearty Italian soup that was also equally as good. What a great space for energy, food, and a look a culture that is inspiring. The wait staffs, i made this plural because everybody working there facilitated my experience. The food was as good as i have had in denver for some time. My Marsella recommended by my waitress, who said it was a good a she has had anywhere with the confidence that comes with personal experiences. She was right. The Minestrone soup was very filling and tasted just like it is supposed to. I'll be back to get to Johnny and the rest of the staff.
The spot is very colorful and tipical Italian interior design. Friendly stuff welcome you, older people serve you. I felt a bit uncomfortable because of that. My server was very kind and friendly gentlemen with white hair. I ordered a salad and spaghetti . The salad was okay medium fresh, not cut the same day, but not bad. I recently ordered a tray of pasta for a houseful of family visiting from both coasts of the US. ALL AGREED IT WAS DELICIOUS an d very plentiful, as I write this they are looking forward to having it for lunch. Mama saninos has become a must have for our family gatherings
Service was short handed but the food was excellent. The bar tender/owner added about 7$ to my bill. But hey not everyone is honest as I was taught.funny thing he was grey headed to. May visit again just to see , I recommend to reserve a table .
Fantastic hosts and delicious food with friendly service. The Minestrone Pasta e Fagiole is outstanding—the sauce is just right, and the macaroni is cooked to perfection.
