Poor service, Poor Food. I have eaten at the Mare and Colt before as a local resident and over time the quality has gone downhill. Last week my Wife and I visited and purchased a meal and drinks. My Wife ordered the Steak Burger and I ordered Great British Cod and Chips. My Cod was not Cod and I suspect it msy hve been Pollock or Coalfish. The batter was enormous but only contained a very small amount of Fish. It wAs not Cod. Cos is white and Flaky. This was grey and fibrous. I did bring this to that attention of one of the servicng staff who went on to argue with me telling me that it must have been Cod because that was what it said on the box. I just read Ross Lewis's review and I have to say I completely agree. Just before Christmas, I unfortunately ordered the Great British Cod and Chips and I also doubted that my fish was actually cod because it looked gray and tough. I even took a picture of it, which I will try to add to this review soon. I initially thought it was just my imagination so I didn't report it to Punch Taverns, but now I may reconsider. I did question the manager about it and she seemed a bit puzzled and somewhat agreed with me. As a gesture, she offered to take half off the bill, although that wasn't really the issue. TERRIBLE!. After visiting numerous chef and brewer pubs most of which have been quite good, this is the second time I've eaten here and it's a complete shambles. I went with my partner and three children. The attitude of the staff was terrible, she slammed the puddings on the table and seemed very cold The food( if you could call it that) was of a very,very low standard. The peas on the kids meals looked as though they had been on a hot plate for days and where very hard The chips were not cooked properly(they were not cooked the first time My partner and I had fillet steak(supposedly) with mash(tasted like leftovers from Christmas which was over two weeks ago). The Service. The service was ok they kept asking us if we wanted refreshments but it took so long for them to deliver the food and i had a barbequed grilled chicken and that was really burnt and they kept getting everyone elses orders wrong and it took them ages to cut a birthday cake and bring it back in. then it took them even longer to get the bill. Overall the service of the waiters and waitresses was pleasant. I might reccomend it to other people but the did take a long time to serve Deanna Murphy

new chef. hallo schatz, I am james mcewan the new chef for mare and colt. it sounds like a few people in this facility had a really bad experience that I am not very happy, there is nothing I can do about past experiences, but there is a lot I would like to improve. they would give me the opportunity to prove me to them and their family, they give me a month to turn this and I guarantee to impress them. I have been in trade for 17 years and knows exactly what needs to be done. art and wise
just recently went for a meal in the stute and colt pub in the summer feild-kidderminster and eating and service was absolutely fantastic. due to a bad visit I asked the staff in the service, which has changed since then, with new management teams and chef chef. this has clearly had a massive influence on quality. big daumen upstairs stubborn and colt. will have been reporting back

terrible service. service appauling 4 hours for 3 courses with children on a quiet week night is a sweat. chips cold, waitress inattentive really disappointed looks great out outside, but a defining fall of all that glitter not gold never again

The service at this restaurant is incredible, with friendly and welcoming staff. The atmosphere is lovely, with a roaring fire and cozy seating areas. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. I could have stayed there all day!
