Once again on the trip to Saxon Switzerland we planned to go to the Czech Republic to enjoy the typical Bohemian cuisine. Due to a car problem we were stuck in Pirna and looked for a restaurant there. The joy was even greater that there was a “Hostinez” on the market square. On the outside it looks like a middle-class German inn and on the inside you are immediately beamed somewhere between Prague and Chomutov. Tourist trap in the heart of Pirna. We ordered goulash and roast beef, which were brought to the counter after just five minutes by an operating robot. This all too quick delivery didn 't bode well and indeed: the meat was tough and tasteless. Also the “real Bohemian” dumplings: boring, as is the sauce. Everything seemed or tasted to have been put together quickly and carelessly. Only the Pils tasted good. The service was just as disappointing, even outrageous: the Czech waitress and the Czech counter attendant (male served without greeting and rudely and our point about the poor quality of the meat was met with a sneering grin. The Babička restaurant in Pirna is a real gem! As soon as you enter, you feel as if you have been transported to a cozy Czech farmhouse the warm atmosphere and lovingly decorated details immediately create a feel good atmosphere. The menu offers a wonderful selection of traditional Czech dishes, prepared with great dedication and authenticity. The goulash and dumplings in particular were excellently seasoned and tasted like they were homemade! The service also deserves special praise: the staff is attentive, friendly and conveys genuine hospitality. Die tschechische Küche kann mehr, vor allem leckerer und für weniger Geld, aber nicht in diesem Restaurant! Ich habe mich für einen großen Salat mit Hähnchen entschieden. Die anderen Gerichte, Braten mit Knödeln, waren mir zu schwer und zu reichhaltig. Nach über einer Stunde kam das Essen endlich an. Leider wurde aus dem Salat (laut Kellner habe ich falsch bestellt, man müsse „Hähnchen mit Salat“ sagen, und angeblich wurde meine Bestellung deshalb nicht richtig weitergegeben) schließlich ein Gericht mit Kartoffeln, Bohnen, gewürfeltem Speck und Hähnchen. Ich wollte nicht noch eine Stunde warten – der Fehler lag wohl bei mir!

Czech cuisine can do more, especially tasty, for less money but not in this restaurant!!!! I decided on a large salad with chicken. The other dishes roast with dumplings were too massive/rich/much for me. After over an hour the food finally arrived. Unfortunately, the salad (according to the waiter I ordered wrong you have to say chicken with salad according to his words I ordered it that way and it didn 't reach the recipient) turned into potatoes, beans with diced bacon and chicken. Didn 't want to wait another hour it was my fault!!!
Service was a long time coming. I ordered pancakes. Then a robot brought the food which doesn't fit at all with the ambience of the very, very nice place. At least a waiter came and brought the plate from the robot to the table. The pancake was delicious, but only one and it was very puny. Three bites and he was gone. Add fruit in decorative quantities, a little ready made whipped cream and standard jam. For 3 4€ it would still be OK. but over 7 (I mean it was 7.90€! are abnormal.

Very good restaurant with typical Czech food and drinks, served by Czech staff very friendly (and relaxed), served in a historical atmosphere. We liked it
