Traditional flavors. Genuine Bulgarian cuisine and a great atmosphere. Live music till late. What more can you ask for. Whoever knows how we party on the Balkans, trust me this place is the real deal. I was with 10 other friends and my other half and we had such a blast. The owners are there and they are the heart of the night. Milena (the lady who runs and owns it) is amazing. She parties hard with the guests, but at the same time keeps a strict eye on both food coming out of the kitchen and service. The girls planned a couples night out and I wanted a meal with a difference. Mehana was suggested by a friend, so we went Bulgarian. The inside is decked out and the music was not the norm . Any complaints of slow service doesn’t take into account the idea in Eastern Europe that a weekend evening meal is an event. We were there for a couple of hours loving it and only just got to finish mains. The house singer started and that was the end of our evening as one of our group has hearing issues. Did that person complain, nope. They just said next time we need to get here earlier to try some more of the menu while they can still talk!! We visited this hidden gem on the way back from Canterbury to London and were very pleased with the quality of the food: meat is tender, succulent and delicious; I personally find it the best grilled meat I have been eaten in the UK! Salad and dessert were also nice. Although there is no parking on site, restaurant is beautiful and sparkling clean. Staff was very kind, even though they were extremely busy preparing for a forthcoming party. Definitely recommended if you like charcoal barbecue meat.
From where to start. This is one of the best restaurants in Maidstone. Staff are great lead by the lovely Milena. All of them are so friendly and kind. The food was very delicious with a nice presentation. The atmosphere is amazing the decor is in an authentic Balkan style. We had a lovely fun night out, filled with lots of music, dancing and singing. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone! Thank you for the great services, as always! And see you next time! Be careful, on Fridays and Saturdays you are charged for ‘live music’, whether you want to listen to it or not. The music is very loud and you can’t even hear yourself talking, let alone the people you are trying to have dinner with. The food was good, but you can’t buy wine unless you pay for a whole bottle. It was an interesting experience, I don’t think I would want to go back again though.
Went for the first time. The overall environment of the restaurant was ok. We ordered the chicken and the lamb shoulder. The food took longer than expected. the Chicken was ok but the lamb was cold and tasted really fatty. I asked the waiter to heat the food, came back after about 10 min, slightly warmer but still not Hot!. Tasted really bad, I would def avoid that if you ever think of going.
We had an amazing time, the friendly staff make that happen. With great hospitality and delicious food. We were a mixed group of English and Bulgarian friends, and we both returned to The old house restaurant as they continued to keep a good standard of hygiene and delicious food and authentic live music. Thank you to make this special occasion even more special.
Absolutely loved this place . Came in on my own as a solo female traveller staying in the twin working . Wonderfully warm environment , and given 5 star treatment . The butchers spicy mezzo pork was something I liked so much I will try and replicate at home ! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
