Enjoyed my birthday dinner here with my partner. Décor is nice and modern however the ambience can be loud (depends on what you like) although granted I did go on a weekend during dinner. It is a little slightly crowded in terms of the dining layout as well but nothing that I couldn't look past. Food was fantastic and I could not fault a single dish. I have been before and my recommendations include their foie gras parfait, the house charcuterie and the haloumi pear dish. You will not go wrong with any of their in-house made charcuterie/deli/cheese items. I am only a little disappointed that we did not receive a birthday candle or message as we had originally requested in our booking however...
We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at Mercado and it was simply fantastic. The service from our waitress, Sandra was warm and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. She was a star! The food was world class. We ate and drank like queens :-) Yummy cocktails to start with breaded chorizo-stuffed olives and a scrumptious, flavoursome charcuterie plate. Great wine to follow. Then incredible prawns and chorizo to ease us into the mains. For mains, the half rotisserie chicken with melt-in-your-mouth carrots and crispy, tasty brussel sprouts. We went to Mercado for my birthday dinner and it was fantastic. A very cool underground restaurant atmosphere. We all shared the food. Great wine list and cocktails. For starters we had the chickpea dip; halloumi; zucchini flowers. All very more-ish. And mains we had the porchetta; chicken and beef ribs; as well as the chorizo and pumpkin ravioli. Needless to say we were full! But every dish was amazing. The humble chicken was probably the dish of the day, but all dishes were a very close second.Would def come again. Great for groups. The food here is brilliant and the staff are outstanding. Had dinner here with family and it is a real treat to find such unique food and amazing flavours. It has a very good cocktail list (try the gin and absinthe with basil) and great wine list too with a very helpful sommelier. We had the zucchini flowers, prawns, pumpkin ravioli and halloumi for starters and they were all brilliant, washed down with a Picardy pinot which matched the food perfectly. Visited here for a special occasion and not disappointed. In fact one of the most delicious meals we've had in a while. We eat out a few times a week and sample all types of food this meal was just fantastic. Sampled a selection of small plates - loved the anchovies and scallops. Then shared the main - Enjoyed immensely the pork and the accompanying vegetables - cauliflower and the Brussels sprouts YUM! Great service topped a brilliant night.
Well, I always wanted to go and decided early Friday evening to try getting into Mercado. To my surprise, Clinton, the restaurant Manager, arranged a quiet table near the bar. From the moment we arrived we felt like celebrities, nothing was too much trouble and the food delicious. The best service I have had anywhere in the world. What a night, do yourselves a favour and go, tonight! We shall return !
Absolutley amazing food and service. We were recommended a few dishes by the staff that neither my wife or i would normally chose and they were stand outs including the foie gras and kingfish and the beef eib with bone marrow. Will definitely becoming back and hopefully soon.
My second visit to Mercado, another outstanding experience. Wonderful menu, great wine selection, superb service, a great atmosphere. Couldn't fault whether for business or dining with friends. Recommend booking as very popular.
