After taking the kids to the fantastic indoor playground, I noticed a steady stream of people coming in and out of Mex Taco House. I had been on the hunt for some good breakfast tacos, but finding a quality Mexican taco place in Cypress can be quite a challenge. I tend to avoid spots that use American cheese slices in their tacos. As soon as I stepped inside, I could tell this was going to be a great taco joint. The variety of breakfast and meat taco options looked absolutely delicious. I had to try four of them just to get a good sampling. Prices ranged from $3 to $4 each. I ordered the carne guisada con papas (stewed meat), which was fantastic! The barbacoa was also delicious! The chorizo...
Delicious! The tostada had a harder shell so it would keep the crunch under all those fresh veggies and toppings! The gordita shell had that fried corn chew that we love. They had fresh cantaloupe agua frescas (flavors vary daily) that was refreshing and perfectly flavored. Watch out for that green salsa… super spicy! The red salsa was fresh and simple. We got the beef and chicken fajita and felt it needed a bit of salt. The iced coffee was heavy on the cinnamon (that’s a rare thing for us to say). Although the service was fast, I could have used a bit of friendly. You want authentic street food at a good price? This is your spot!
Dine in experience:The staff is very polite and inviting. Very helpful as first timers also. The breakfast tacos were great even tho we asked for beans and we didn’t really taste them. The flour tortillas are spot on.Cons:I wish that instead of waiting to order and then waiting to get your actual order , they could just get your order and make it right there and then instead of waiting twice since they do have a hot bar section. We got the asado meat and it was very hard, definitely needed to be slow cooked a little longer. My husband got the menudo and it was very watery.
We were looking for a bite to eat while heading to Premium Outlet, and after a quick search, we decided to stop here. We ordered the Mexican chilaquiles divorciados and street tacos (available only on Fridays and Saturdays) filled with beef, and everything was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the chilaquiles with red sauce, and I appreciated the texture of the tortillas; they were soaked yet still crispy. The tacos were delicious, and the beef was tender. The street tacos were delicious, especially the beef fajitas—definitely a must-try! They also offer complimentary chips, salsa, horchata, and agua fresca, and the portion sizes are great for the price. However, the chicken was a bit dry, and I found the ordering process to be a little confusing since the meat tacos come a la carte unless you specify desired toppings.
Fantastic little place. Great food and very reasonably priced. The proportions are good. The sauces are spicy and plentiful. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers but there wasn't a wait long wait for the food. I will definitely return and I would recommend it highly.
My friend introduced me to visit.There were a lot of people.The food came out quickly after ordering, and if it was dine in, they gave me a numbered ticket and brought me the food.All the food was delicious and the sauce was delicious.The staff were very friendly.
