I was sceptical to enter this little shop. The design is fresh and eye catching, the concept is very well defined and I feared that this would be one of those places that charged a fortune for mediocre food and expensive marketing. However I couldn't be more wrong. Although it's a little pricier than your average cone, the quality more than compensates for the price! This is hands down the best ice cream I've had, it tastes so fresh and creamy I couldn't believe it! The ice creams are made on the spot and flavours change every week! There are many ice cream shops in Old Montreal but Mlle Catherine probably serves the best ice cream of them all. Can't say for sure since I didn't have time to sample them all. Also, after finding Mlle Catherine I lost interest in surveying the competition. What makes this place special is they make their own ice cream with their own unique flavors. They serve only 3-4 scoop flavors and maybe 3 soft serve (they also have 4 different dip flavors for their soft serve) and they change the flavors frequently. My favorite was dark chocolate soft serve, Yummm. If there is such a category as artisanal ice cream this place would be on the list. I really recommend Mlle Catherine.
Je ne connaissais pas les glaces molles, ma première expérience a eu lieu à Québec et je me suis laissée séduire surtout par le fait de plonger une glace "italienne" dans du chocolat chaud ! Mlle Catherine est une petite échoppe pleine de charme, vous ne trouverez pas 4000 parfums mais ceux proposés sont traditionnels et surtout très bonsSi je reviens à Montréal ce sera une escale OBLIGATOIRE !
This ice cream shop is very delicious and had many great choices to choose from. In this shop they served soft serve ice cream and allowed you to dip it in many different types of chocolate. Some types of chocolate they had were oreo mixed with chocolate, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate! The ice cream is amazing on the chocolate is very good. Best ice cream ever! We decided to stop here for a late-night snack and it was phenomenal. You can get soft-serve ice cream dipped in a variety of chocolates. I got mine dipped in milk chocolate and it was incredible! The chocolate and soft-serve paired perfectly together. You could tell the chocolate was not "cheap" and it tasted gourmet. Definitely stop here!
Thus place is great for different flavors of soft serves and varieties of dips. You have a choice of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel and Oreo and they are all great tasting. I had a mango shorbet dipped with a dark chocolate and my lil one had a chocolate chip dipped in hot milk chocolate fudge. You will love the flavors.
So, so cute when you walk in. Service was 100% on point. Ice cream was standard. My kid loved it but she loves all ice cream. I expected better. But it wasn't bad and the prices were very reasonable.
