Since Mother India came highly recommended by one member of my family and quite the opposite by another, it became a challenge I found impossible to resist. Having eaten at the restaurant, my conclusion for their opposing experiences lies in separate motivations for going to a particular restaurant in the first place: (a) it's Friday night and you don't want to cook, or (b) you want to dress up and 'be seen', or (c) you want good food, or (d) you want trendy or (e) you want the full experience of eating good in a rather ordinary Indian restaurant. But you wouldn't go there for the charming service. They obviously overbook. We had booked a table for two. On our arrival we were told we could sit outside on the footpath. Just as my wife challenged our surly host a table was made available by a couple leaving. No apology or explanation by the host. And what's with 'cash only'? Surely the ATO should smell a rat! Their saving grace is 'Mother', who wanders around making sure you are happy with the food. She provides the charm! And of course the food is amazing. Otherwise you wouldn't come back. If someone polite and customer-savvy with similar culinary skills opens a restaurant nearby then 'Mother India' is in trouble!
Finally visited Mother India after hearing rave reviews. Chose a busy night - Mother's Day. They were flat out! We had the banquet as suggested on such a busy night. It was so fresh and full flavoured. The curries were of such high quality that we've not had in Restaurants in Perth before. Anywhere. Chilli level not for the faint hearted so don't be wimpy.This quant place is faultless. Staff friendly and very skilled at juggling takeaway and inside orders. Obviously very popular with the locals for good reason. Restored my faith in restaurant meals. Thanks Mother India. May good things come your way.
The Indian food is excellent and I can highly recommend it. The restaurant is small and has no frills about it but the food was so delicious you just did not notice. The night we visited it was extremely busy with both customers in the restaurant and take away. The menu is extensive and the choice was hard to make we had the Kerala Lamb Curry and the Chicken Korma both were delightful. The combination entrée was also a delight. We realized at the last minute - helping with our granddaughter - that we would run out of time to prepare a meal. I knew they were always busy but tried anyway, and within 15 min were were picking up take-away for two. Turns out they had some pre-prepared meals there. By the time they added roti, dahl, poppadoms and a classic yoghurt to go with the yellow rice, our chicken korma and beef vindaloo were excellent. And we were home quickly. Thanks, Mother India.
Highly recommend this restaurant. Best Indian in WA with out a doubt. We went on Friday night with a group of 9 people and had a private dining room. On such a busy night we were required to order a banquet meal. I was worried that it wouldn't be enough food but I was definitely wrong the waiters brought out all our food consistently and always kept asking if we wanted more of any dish. At the end of the night all 9 people left happy and very full.
We ordered a beef madras curry takeaway that was only half filled with large chunks of beef & a tasty sauce. The large white rice container wasn't full enough for the $5 price.
Visited this place tonight, and can honestly say the food was the best Indian I've had in a long time!! Delicious food! Cute little place! Please give this place a go! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
