Upon entering, we were greeted by a menu written on a whiteboard that showcased the daily specials. The dining experience is cafeteria-style, reminiscent of down-home southern cooking reminiscent of a grandmother’s kitchen. Everything tasted incredible, far beyond my expectations. As someone originally from SouthPark in Beaumont, Texas, I fondly remembered places run by masterful women who truly knew how to prepare soul food. Ms. Audrey's brought back those cherished memories. It reminded me of a similar spot we had back in the day called Mama Dora's, which had a similar vibe. The nostalgia was overwhelming—like eating at MawMaw's house with just fantastic food. I tried the mashed potatoes...
One lady kept rolling her eyes at us because we didn't know what we wanted...but it was our 1st time there. They also were a little snippy because we were asking questions, and the food also took a very long time to come to us. Seems like everyone after us had eaten and left before we finally asked if we were forgotten about. The seafood gumbo had a really good overall taste to it..really good...but it was mostly only okra. Very little rice, 1 or 2 shrimp, no crab except in one bowl out of 5, maybe 2 or 3 bowls had 1-2 sausage. Based off the rudeness of one lady and the seafood gumbo not being so seafood, I probably wouldn't go back. But that's just my experience, other people I know really...
This place is sooooo cool! It's tucked in a location you would never expect or find if you didn't know about it, but everyone who lives here knows about it because they are always busy. It's cafeteria style with a super clean down home vibe. The staff is awesome and so is the food. I'd call it Cajun/soul fusion. Close to the hospital and not far from downtown. Plenty of parking as well. If you want comfort food, this is the place!
My wife and I celebrated our one-year anniversary in Gulf Shores, Alabama. I expressed my desire for some authentic Southern Cajun and Creole cuisine. The following morning, we set off to Gulfport, Mississippi, and I searched for Cajun dining options, which led me to discover this hidden gem. The food exceeded all my expectations. The food was terrible. I read all the great reviews and could not wait to get there. The fish was too salty, the greens were super bland, the corn was sickeningly sweet, and the peach cobbler had a boatload of nutmeg. The people were friendly enough, but everybody was moving in slow motion. I drove twenty miles to waste $40. Should have given that to the casino.
Today was my first visit to Ms. Audrey's, as I usually can't get off work in time before she closes. Let me tell you, it was absolutely DELICIOUS! Everything was fantastic, especially the almond pound cake she makes. If I could give her a 10-star rating, I would without hesitation!
Nicest people and staff! Even Ms Audrey came around to see if it was good!! Great home cooking I was so excited to eat whole catfish wish I lived close to order cornbread dressing for Thanksgiving

The younger lady with braids was quite rude and abrupt during my visit. Her attitude really affected my experience. I believe she should be replaced.
