Shady, shady, New Star! So long story, less long, 18% service charge applied to party of 3, didn't catch it so they got a $36 service fee/gratuity. I always appreciate when places pay you the courtesy of informing you that they plan to add a service charge. In this case they did not. It was not posted anywhere that I noticed. Plus I think it's intentional the way the itemized receipt is attached to the restaurants copy , you are less inclined to take it with you and really review. I mean we had a drink on our tab so the total seemed right ????. Shame on us for trusting but not verifying. Anyway, I always tip in cash because as a previous service worker I appreciated the generous cash tips...
New Star was excellent! ?? They have the best Egg Foo Young in the city! I hate to say it but this was the best service I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant! We ate for lunch and the prices were very reasonable! Lunch came with tea, egg drop soup, a huge egg roll, pork fried rice and Shrimp and Chicken Egg Foo Young, all for 7.99! They have hibachi and a sushi counter too but we've never had it. Also the bathroom was very clean and stylish, they even had a mouthwash dispenser! The food was so good, the service was good and the bathroom was so clean. Can't wait to go back! ????
the first time I tried this place and I was pleasantly surprised when I am so picky on hibachi! it was the 8th graduation party of my niece and we had a party 25 ppl? they have us with zero problem, the chefs were so friendly and had so much fun with the children, eating was phenomenal and honest can not say a bad thing at this place! lunch specialties were very affordable and still can not have a lot of food. ALSO looks are foolish because when they go into them looks small, but it is actually quite large
We have been ordering from New Star for over 30 years and have enjoyed it every time. This time for our order on 12/26/23, there were small fish bones (it seemed) in the new star fried rice. Not sure what was going on! This is very, very unusual and disappointing. Won't give up on them yet. The picture shows only 2 of the 5 we found while eating. Still have half the container to go thru. If find more, will call them and bring it to them.

BEST Chinese food I’ve ever had!!! When they brought the orange chicken I immediately thought what I’ve I been eating all these years if this is real orange chicken. Great service just call ahead of time for a table or you’re going to wait a while. And for everything that was order led I was shocked at the price I thought it’d be way more expensive. This is the only place I’ll eat Chinese food from now on.
Made reservations for dinner but I when I arrived I had to wait about 10-15 minutes.. Definitely worth the wait though! The food was delicious. No doubt my tofu vegetables were amazing , while my family said they enjoyed their steak, shrimp, drinks. First time eating hibachi and will surely come back!!!
This place has been around for years but you’d never know it. It’s clean, it’s modern, great service and great food. Outstanding value for quality food.
I ordered online this time but amazing place for Asian food. There is also parking East of the block, curtesy parking due to them.
