I can't believe this restaurant has only received six reviews. I'm from Michigan, and my Canadian girlfriend and I have often found ourselves disappointed by many local eateries in Windsor—until we discovered this gem. This place is absolutely fantastic! I assume Jerry is the owner because several dishes are named after him. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp Dinner, while I had the Scallop Shrimp with Jerry's Special. The entire meal cost us under CAD 47. It's a bit tricky to find, as there's a Burger King (not great!) in the same strip mall, but it's definitely worth the trip, even if you're not nearby. TripAdvisor mostly gives them five-star reviews, and I can see why. The food is amazing!...
Yes, to this place. I went here and ordered the chicken and shrimp, and an order of dumplings $25?! with tip) As far as I can tell everything on the menu is a Japanese stir fry, with teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki sauce they use is thin and watery, not a thick sauce. They add as much teriyaki as you like. The dumplings are hand made, they make more if they run out. They literally fill the take out container with rice then add the vegetables and meat on top. This place is good try them out, really reasonably priced.
Here's the issue: it's important to prioritize your seated guests. We come there to enjoy a meal, not just to soak in the atmosphere (as entertaining as it may be!). If you’re exceptionally busy, it would be helpful to let us know upon arrival that we should expect a long wait. Regrettably, due to these delays, we will likely choose to avoid dining in for now. It’s a shame because the staff, including the owner, are genuinely wonderful people.
My wife and I were looking for new places to try and came across this place. Overall, everything felt average from the prices to food to the atmosphere. We split a two combo item meal with shrimp and chicken (came with rice) and bean sprouts. I wouldn't exactly say I wouldn't recommend it, but I would not eat here again because nothing seemed special or stood out.Parking: Plenty of parking in lot with other businesses nearby.
This place has probably been open for 20 years now, and it's always tasted the same. The Jerry's Special is so flavourful, has lots of texture, and a nice subtle spiciness to it. Definitely ask for it with fried rice, it adds a lot more interest to the dish. Last night, I asked for it to be cooked with extra teriyaki and it was even better! Excellent value for your money as well.
Had another great meal yesterday. The Jerry's Special is just amazing, great flavour and just enough spice in the Jerry's sauce. You can always tell when the food is good when people are willing to happily wait for their food. A MUST TRY!!!
Jerry's Special is simply outstanding. Whether you visit for lunch or dinner, you’re guaranteed great food at a reasonable price. For over 20 years, it has been a beloved fixture in the community, and I highly recommend it!
