14 of us made our way to the Carcassonne area from the US the first week of July. We stayed at La Maison in Vilegailhenc and on the first night of our stay we decided to do a wine tour, tasting and dinner at O'Vineyards. VERDICT: THIS WAS THE BEST MEAL WE HAD OUT OUR ENTIRE STAY. When we arrived at the vineyard we were met by Joe who gave us a tour of the property which was lovely and also learn about their wines, and taste from the barrel. Afterwards we were brought back in to the main area for dinner. (Note: we were there during the first of the two heatwaves this summer so we ate inside instead of melting outside I can't even put into words how wonderful this meal was! Liz, owner and chef...
Wow! What a special evening. First, Joe took us on an informative and entertaining wine tour. He is so knowledgeable about wine making and we learned so much. He even let us turned the spigot on a huge wine tank and pour our own gasses of maturing wine. So cool! Then we sat down at the family dinner table, where we were treated to an unforgettable meal prepared by Liz. She is a beautiful person and a marvelous cook. Of course, we were fortunate to be included in a family celebration that night and hit the jackpot. While on a road trip around France visiting different vineyards we decided to book an overnight stay that also included wine tasting immediately upon arrival, tour of the vineyard, a full evening meal and overnight stay. Such a comprehensive package n experience meant that we were able to really appreciate the fine wines (and rare grape variety) that were offered. From the moment of our arrival to the point of our departure it was a first class experience. Our hosts were so friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. It was such an indulgent experience. I can’t recommend highly enough. Would love to go back one day
While staying at O’Vineyards B&B, we did the wine tour and tasting and then dined with Liz and Joe, the proprietors. We were the only guests that evening and had a wonderful time. Liz served us appetizers and then main courses of filet mignon and grilled duck breasts, with roasted potatoes and vegetables. Wine flowed constantly with Joe serving. We were stuffed but Liz served a lovely dessert and we consumed that as well. Then more wine. Wow! It was quite a feast and the hosts were absolutely delightful and engaging. I have visited many wineries, which included tours and tastings. This was by far the best tasting and tour I have ever had. We had a very informative tour and a more than generous tasting. After our tour, we had a delicious dinner. The courses seemed never ending, the food was superb. Everything was fresh and homemade. Prepared and served by the host and hostess. Definitely a five star evening. I can’t wait to visit again and next time I will add on an overnight stay in the B &B. This was an experience I would definitely recommend.
We were invited to join a friend (whom we'd not seen in many years and was briefly in the area) for an evening at O'Vineyards. Since we live just half an hour away, it was an ideal setting for us to catch up with him, have a wonderful tour of the property with Joe and spend a fine time at Liz's table with some delicious and well prepared food to help us enjoy even more the wonderful wines we sampled. We thank you for your hospitality and warm and friendly care while we were with you. And, we laughed, a LOT!
This was a birthday present from our wonderful children…. and what a splendid time we had Joe and Liz were marvellous hosts and we were treated to some amazing food and fabulous wines and great conversation. The setting was beautiful, the wine making tour was informative and Liz even booked the taxis for us (don’t even think about driving! Thank you for a wonderful time, we will be back with all the family soon!
This was by far one of the best nights out we’ve had. Went to the vineyard for a typical French night out with good food, turned out to be an amazing experience of generous wine tasting combined with delicious food that was made with love.
