Where to start? This place is perfect. We had the vegan Freddie Prince with the thick crust and another vegan sausage one in a regular crust.The regular crust was delicious. A classic New York slice. The thick crust... WOW. Blown away. The way they work they dough, with the sesame seeds and some tunneling, just the right balance of crisp and fluff. Unreal. Out of this world. We were running late for our 7 hour drive home but had to run back and get a few more slices for the ride home. Slices were solid, what you expect from a really good pizzeria. I wasn't a fan of hot honey on the hellboy pizzas. Might be a matter of personal taste.Squares are just so much better, though. The Freddy Prince pizza was pretty good. The sesame crust was super nice and crunchy.However, the sauce and cheese distribution on my pizza was pretty awful. I got a corner slice that was undersauced, making the slice 50% crust. Kind of a lame experience, but I assume this isn't a normal occurrence given the pictures and what I saw in the store. A little unlucky but still enjoyable.
• hellboy talk about a religious experience. this is such a delicious slice of pizza… like, i’m regretting not bringing a pie home. their pepperoni is already mhmm but add the hot honey? wow. it offers a slight heat, nothing crazy but i love a salty sweet combo and they do it so right.notesdrooling as i reminisce. the service could be better because whoever was at that counter seemed a little tiffed and ignored my friend twice when he asked about the drinks at the back. other than that, come here and try it for yourself. One of my fave slice shops to get a vegan slice in NY the vegan Freddy Prince is a 10/10!! The difference between this and other shops is that the bread (on some of the slices) is more like garlic bread than pizza dough. It's SO GOOD. Definitely worth going out of your way to stop here if Greenpoint isn't your usual neighborhood. Also, the atmosphere is so great because it feels like an old school pizza shop.Vegetarian options: Vegan options. They usually have multiple vegan slices.
Retro and nostalgic with everything about the food and beverage being modern and hip. This is consistently the best pizza in the city for lactose intolerant and/or vegan diets. Fantastic cheese toppings presented on what I consider a case study in New York style, slice shop crust. Stumbled upon this place as I was walking and was glad I had a slice..had the hellboy because that was the one with the hot honey on it and the sound of it was so unique and the taste was great too. Also, tried a slice of vegan sausage pizza which was so good as well. Couldn't really say it was vegan as it still had the traditional pizza taste. Will definitely try again when I am around this neighborhood
The Hellboy Squared is delicious. Light, thick, airy dough fully covered in sesame at the bottom. Crunchy from end to end. Rich, jammy tomato sauce. Crispy, charred pepperoni cups that hold onto the hot honey. I loved this taste of NY pizza! ? I got the mozz slice and a square piece of the pizza topped in pepperoni and Mike's hot honey. Highly recommend this pizza spot!
