For our appetizer, we tried “Abby's Sprouts,” and they were incredible! The portion was so generous that it could have served as a main course, but we enjoyed it so much that we finished it all. I ordered the “Chicken Pepperoncini” with Rigatoni, and it was excellent. I frequently find that chicken cutlets at Italian restaurants can be overcooked and tough, but these were cooked to perfection. Menu was very limited. The restaurant had a $25 Sunday dinner menu which included a side salad. When we asked for additional side salad we were told they couldn't do it because it was only for that $25 menu. Not to mention it was my boyfriend's birthday and he couldn't even get a salad like he wanted. The food was bland and some pasta was cold while others were warm. Our server was very cold and didn't have much of a personality. Frankly, I felt pretty uncomfortable. The vibe was just off. For the limited menu and the lack of seasoning, for $88 for two , I wouldn't suggest it.
This wasn't our first visit, so we were already aware that the food would be excellent. We had a reservation for 7 PM. Initially, the hostess tried to seat us downstairs near the front door, but we requested a table upstairs, and they accommodated us swiftly. The atmosphere also left much to be desired, scoring a mere 1. Overall, it was a mixed experience, where the quality of the food didn't make up for the shortcomings in service and ambiance.
We will be back! Nice menu options in all categories. Everything served at the right temperature and very generous portions. Scallopini was excellent and veal cutlets were cooked perfectly. Shared a piece of Mrs G's homemade cake for dessert. And it's BYOB.
The food at this place is amazing, it's a small local establishment serving great Italian dishes. You should go on a Sunday for the items only available on the Sunday Gravy menu. This was our second time there and we will definitely be back!
