My definitive and favorite pizza. I grew up around the corner from Pica 's Pizzeria as it was known way back then. In the 50s, it was just a little pizza shop that did cheesesteaks and hoagies too, with a few tables for dine in. The 60s saw expansion to add a dining room and an expanded menu, but through it all there was that square shaped pizza. Though life had me move away from Upper Darby, first to the northwestern suburbs of Philly, then all the way to Florida, I still fondly remember Pica 's Pizza. As mentioned, the pizza is sort of upside down from what most serve the cheese is on the bottom and the sauce is on the top. Something about that inversion just makes it perfect in my mind. R...
I really enjoy the pizza here, and when I place an order, they usually say it will be ready in 20-30 minutes, which is pretty typical. However, the issue is that during my last three orders, they either lost my pizza or simply didn’t make it at all. Instead of just walking in and picking up my pizza, I end up waiting around for 40 minutes while they search for it, and ultimately they have to make a completely new one. Waiting around with two restless kids is far from enjoyable, especially when the best they can offer for the inconvenience is a mere apology.
If you are a pizza connoisseur, add this place to your list! If you're looking for a terrific Italian meal, they also have a great menu that includes pasta, seafood, steaks, hot sandwhiches, hoagies, a wide array of salads, and superb appetizers. It's a different kind of pie, with the tastiest sauce on top and a large rectangular shape. The pizza is a perfectly medium crust that is better tasting than can be described in words, and it's as good fresh out of the oven as it is cold the next day (in the rare event there is any left the next day)!
My wife turned me onto this place years ago. She's from Drexel Hill and holds every pizza to the Picas standard. Most fall short. This place is an old school staple. We love both eating in and also grabbing a pie to go.

I grew up in the neighborhood and have been going there for over 50 years. Their pizza is the best I ever had. I’ve had pizza from many different places in my life, but none that are nearly as tasty as Pica’s.
Upper Darby institution. Five stars in every category, not because of fancy dishes, but for the place to go with family. We go every year for some occasion or another, and never had a bad time.
I met with a manager there and she was a great person to talk with my experience with her was wonderful and memorable
The food was tasty and beautifully presented. The restaurant was clean, and the service was excellent.
