My definitive and favorite pizza. I grew up around the corner from Pica 's Pizzeria as it was known way back then. In the 50s, it was just a little pizza shop that did cheesesteaks and hoagies too, with a few tables for dine in. The 60s saw expansion to add a dining room and an expanded menu, but through it all there was that square shaped pizza. Though life had me move away from Upper Darby, first to the northwestern suburbs of Philly, then all the way to Florida, I still fondly remember Pica 's Pizza. As mentioned, the pizza is sort of upside down from what most serve the cheese is on the bottom and the sauce is on the top. Something about that inversion just makes it perfect in my mind. R...
It’s a shame to give one star because picas has good pizza and should be a community staple but tonight was my last time there. Our waitress was terrible and kept making loud comments, literally while she was cleaning our table, that she was trying to get out of there. Then she watched us like a hawk from a table a few away and kept mentioning to her coworkers that she couldn’t leave until we did. We were there celebrating the birthday of a loved one that passed in a very tragic way. It was obvious we were crying and t going through something. When we left, she stormed past us, literally almost knocking us over. Picas does NOT care able their customers or their community. I’m actually disgus...
We had six in our party, when approached by the hostesses out front asked if we were going to want a table. In a nut shell; dirty tables, rolling eyed rude waitress, who happens to be an elementary school teacher, plops 2 pizza orders down, no dishes, disappeared thru most of the meal but came back all smiles and laughter with the bill. This use to be a great place to go and also have your events. To bad none of us will ever go to a picas again.
Frequently eat there with my brother and family. It is an old family favorite of his. General food from menu is usually very good. I don't like thin crust pizza and the sauce is too sweet but family rave about it and we have friends who stop by when up from Florida who love it. This place has the craziest Pizza they put the cheese under the sauce. It sounds crazy but it's actually really good it's got a different texture and actually a different flavor because the sauce hits your mouth first then you get the cheese with the crust. Supposedly this place is a Delco landmark.
As always, the best pizza hands down. Connie from Connecticut is the BEST! Already looking forward to our next trip to town.
I met with a manager there and she was a great person to talk with my experience with her was wonderful and memorable
