Picnic Fayre is a large deli in the small coastal village of Cley next the Sea. It is situated on the crossroads, not far from the art gallery and windmill, and takes its customer base from a lot of the North Norfolk coastal holiday cottages. The deli has a fine selection of cheese, particularly English cheeses including Lincolnshire Poacher, Cornish Yarg, Wensleydale, Stilton and Y Fenni. Antipasti include olives, sardines, pesto, seafood salad and sundried tomatoes and peppers. Cley Forge is the shop's own range of pickles, chutneys, mustards, sauces and jams. beautiful deli and shop in cley. very old and filled with good food to the beams. we took a pork cake (okay thick baked, which looked better than it tasted, black sausage inside,) Portuguese egg tart (baked by the deli and although not authentic yet very spicy) and lavendar foccacia (yummy foccaccia with a hauch of lavendar) for a picnic lunch. also a beautiful glass of local cley jam to back as a gift. They are known for their cakes and I think they are probably better than the hearty cakes. they also have an extensive selection of local cheeses such as norfolk dappy, cornish yarg, etc. and have I mentioned the great wine selection at the back? and the local jams and chutneys? super sweeter...
beautiful deli and from license- superb cake and cake, and decent coffee. something incompatible for such a small place, perhaps, and not exactly a replacement for, they say, a saving they cannot buy here a time and a twix, but then the gays are world class. I also recommend the sweet chili cashews.
whether it is the excellent selection of cheese, homemade cakes and cakes, the delicious flavor in glasses ready for tasting, this shop has everything. and if the products were not enough, the friendliness, care and advice that are shown by the staff to go for themselves.
