I live in the area and had meaning to visit for a while. Every time I walk past it is always busy so I thought it would be good - and it was. The building is bright and airy and there is an excellent menu with a good range of pizzas, cakes and drinks, oh and some of the best garlic bread I have ever had! The staff are very friendly and helpful and the whole place has a nice, friendly, local feel to it. The food is easily of Lygon street standard but you are in a much quieter neighbourhood with a great beach about 3 minutes down the road one way and a train station about 1 minutes away in the other direction. Worth a trip out from the CBD.
Walking Pier Street we were looking for a venue for lunch and Pier 71 Bar E Cucina looked inviting.We were welcomed warmly and shown to a table promptly. The service was friendly and efficient.We dined on a variety of their pastas and were relatively underwhelmed. We had to request Parmesan and extra chili as little seemed to be in our order as the menu suggested.The service for our needs was met promptly and we were farewelled warmly. It was a shame the quality of the food didn't match the service.
Took my mother here for lunch today. Just wanted a light lunch so we had the soup from the specials board. Tasted OK but was only lukewarm plus it only came with 3 little croutons in the bowl, no crusty bread or roll to accompany it. We had to order a cake to help fill us up. Even the coffee was just warm. In all very disappointing and overpriced for a bowl of soup. Won't be eating there again in a hurry. Many better places to chose in Pier street.
Came here for a quick lunch with friends and left very happy. We shared shared a few pizzas, salads and some calamari friti. The salads were fresh and interesting and not drowning in dressing. The calamari were perfectly cooked and simple. But the pizza....oh the pizza! The pizza is basically 400 Gradi minus the price tag. Simply perfecto! We will be back very soon. A casual drop in for dinner with our friends who live locally. Great decor with interestng produce for sale. Warm welcome, prompt professional service and cosy booth table for four. Three of our party opted for the Monday night $15 pizza special....wow they were all perfect in every way! We will definitely be back for those deliciious authentic wood-fired pizzas.
The food and atmosphere are lovely. The rustic chips with delicious dipping sauce was excellent over a business discussion. The service is excellent! The staff are so friendly and make it feel like you're in a cafe in Italy!! Pricing is probably in the medium range but not over priced for what you get. Coffee is Excellent!
Our local pizza place, have never had a bad pizza from these guys; although I'm sad they took my favourite pizza off their menu, although they are all great. Good relaxed atmosphere.
