Went for brunch today with a group of 8 for a bachelorette. Had made the reservation a month ago and probably wouldn't have needed to. When we arrived just before 11:00 there was some people waiting but by the time we were leaving there was a lot of open tables. I had read some reviews saying the service wasn't great but no one I knew personally had ever had a bad experience.... until today. Our food took a very long time, long enough that we all were starting to wonder what was going on. Never mind we have a toddler with us who was less than impressed. Now the food. I went for lunch with a friend. I had made a reservation and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table on the patio. The patio is quaint and the tables are a reasonable space apart. Our waiter was very poor. He looked bored, as if he really didn't want to be there. He brought us water and then seemed to be missing. We asked other servers to get him because we wanted to order and it took him a long time to get there. He did not tell us the specials and when I asked for the quiche of the day, he seemed annoyed. We decided without reservations to go out for dinner at Pineridge Hollow for our anniversary last minute decision well to pour surprize there was a table ready. We were seated and the staff were friendly and our server was friendly and very polite, we ordered our food and some wine had a appetizer came on a board with veggies , crackers ,and dip, don't remember what this was called but well worth it all were great tasting. Went here on recommendation of Winnipeg friend. So glad we did! My first visit. We arrived earlier than our reservation time and enjoyed wandering the grounds with lovely little iron benches to sit, flower gardens, little pond and grounds complete with penned chickens, a couple of cute goats and a few pigs! We were seated earlier than our designated time in a screened in porch area. The food was very good! Beet chips are a must to try but plan to share as portions are huge! If you are ordering fish and chips like me, just one is more than plenty! My friend really enjoyed her rice bowl. The place is nice, has a nice store but the restaurant has some very strange "rules", we were there before 5 p.m and I had no idea they only serve food after 5, anyway we waited and for that we had to make a reservation for 3, took a bit and then the sat us in a small table in the sun, we asked to move inside the actually restaurant and it was ok BUT we only could stay there for 1h and 15 minutes, never heard about anything like that before, if we were sitting outside we also would have to leave in 1h and 30 min. I find that very strange and you don't even have time for dessert. Food is good but we were not very comfortable with the limited time we had to spend there. Odd!!!!
Dropped in for lunch on a Friday without a reservation. Was told 45 min wait but got in far earlier than that. Nice gift shop to peruse while waiting and nice grounds with goats, chickens, and a pig. Sat on the patio which was nice. Food was quite good with an emphasis on farm to table and local products. Their beet chips are a must to try. Nice wine selection as well with 6 and 9 oz glasses available. The manager provided us with a complimentary dessert because he'd overheard me saying it was my first time there. Service was excellent. Will return.
Great Farm To Table Gem Nestled In Bird's Hill Provincial Park. Experienced an incredible cheese board in the winter that had this West Virginia girl looking forward to a return trip! Unfortunately, the seasonal menu changes did not carry over the monk cheese and they replaced the in house made cheese crackers with Ritz crackers. Beet Chips are a tasty starter. Plentiful serving sizes. Exceptional wait staff. Best to make reservation.
This is one of our favorite places to dine in Winnipeg! It is a great farm to table gem nestled in Bird's Hill Provincial Park.
