Walked in with a reservation. Restaurant failed to reserve a table for us. Once seated at a table not accommodating for our party of 5, no one ever greeted us, apologized for the wait,nor took our drink order. We were completely disregarded. After waiting over 30 minutes with no one ever approaching our table or checking in on us, we decided to leave. We have been loyal customers frequenting Pizzaiolo on the average of 2 times per month over the past 8 years. We’ve experienced a decline in the service since the manager left along with one of our favorite, long-standing waitresses. The experience is just not the same and this last visit was the clincher. I love the daily menu options at Pizzaiolo and I really appreciate the variety of salads available, especially with smoked salmon! It would be nice to see more dessert options on the menu, in addition to the pizzas and salads. Overall, the restaurant has a great, laid-back atmosphere and is located in a convenient neighborhood. I also appreciate the attentive service from the waitstaff, who seem to always be checking in on us.
The food was tasty and I really enjoyed my meal. However, the service was lacking as the server seemed inexperienced and I had to repeatedly ask for napkins and drinks that a good server would have brought automatically. My meal was also delayed, causing me to wait longer than expected. Despite these issues, the food was delicious and I would consider returning in the future, just avoiding peak times.
The starters were delicious. However, the main course lacked in aroma. The service was excellent. It is important to take into account the calculation of the extra tip. Good Italian food in northern New Jersey. High quality for low cost. You would never know you were in a strip mall. The meatballs were an A+. The only downside was that the staff was a little slow (I think they were overwhelmed with the customer volume), but nice.
Everyone enjoyed! Been dying to get there forever- will definitely be back. Perfect for families, small kids to grandparents!
