As we drove along Highway 301, we stumbled upon a charming little diner that turned out to be a fantastic find. Conveniently located right on our route to Jacksonville, we didn’t have to deviate from our path. You might be confused at first since it’s labeled as PJ’s when you pull up, but inside, it goes by Hawthorne Café and Catering. Just roll with it.
The ambiance is simple and typical of a small-town diner, which adds to the charm of good old-fashioned America—something I really loved! My daughter ordered pancakes with hash browns, while I opted for the everything omelette, grits, and a side of sausage gravy. We both had coffee.

It's not PJ's anymore, it's Hawthorne Cafe. We both had bacon cheeseburgers and it was real ground meat and not a frozen patty and it was very tasty. The staff was nice and polite and it was the best burger around
Why bother saying open until 2 if you're going to close early? We get there at 1.35 at they say they've shut the kitchen down. Too bad because the food is good but rude employees can really ruin a good place.
