ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE! WE USED TO FREQUENT DEERRIELD PORTILLOS WEEKLY. STAFF AND SOME MANAGERS HAVE CHANGED AND ITS AWFUL! WAS HERE A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THEY COMPLETELY MESSED UP THE ORDER. NOTICED MANAGER WAS DIFFERENT AND SO WAS STAFF AND ALL VERY DISORGANIZED AND RUDE! THEY ACT PUT OUT WHEN YOU ASK FOR ANYTHING, EVEN TO FIX YOUR ORDER. BECAUSE WE USED TO LOVE PORTILLOS AND I BELIEVE PEOPLE HAVE BAD DAYS WE DECIDED TO TRY AGAIN AND DIDNT MAKE IT PAST ORDERING. This will be the last time I order from Portillo's. I used the drive-thru for the first time, and while I've enjoyed their food in the past, this experience was disappointing. The person who handed me my bag read my order back to me correctly, but when I got home, I discovered both sides of peppers were missing. I went back to inform the order taker about the issue, and he told me to pull around. When I received the missing items, I asked, “What happened? I had to drive back here to get these.” He simply said, “I guess we forgot.” There was no offer of compensation, like something on the house or a coupon—nothing to acknowledge the inconvenience I faced. I don't understand the excitement around this place. Apologies, but having lived in Chicago for 45 years, I've had my fair share of amazing hot dogs. Portillo's has built a legendary reputation, mostly deserved, based on their consistently good hot dogs and beef sandwiches. While I still enjoy the beefs, the hot dogs that made them famous are just average. Considering the underwhelming hot dog, the high price, the long wait times due to constant lines, and the mistake on my simple request for no celery salt, I can only give it... 3 stars. Honestly, that might even be too generous.
Don’t get my wrong… this food was tremendous. It’s Alamo painful to rate this place below a 5 star, but… I ordered Italian beef’s online and chose the dry option with a side of gravy to ensure integrity of the sandwich. What did they miss? The gravy. I tried to hard to be refunded or reimbursed but Portillo’s made it quite difficult to do so (it seems intentional).

Portillos food has gone downhill over the years, so the food is what it is. The staff prepping the food are just not good at this specific location. Some are great, but this one is not one of them. The girl outside that took the order was pleasant. The guy outside walking the food was ok. But every time I give it another shot, the food is wrong.
The food here is amazing, and I've been a regular customer for a long time. However, during my most recent visit, they forgot my cheeseburger and still charged me for it!
Well run as most portillos are. Even with a mass of people they still churn out great food and quickly
Overhyped on the Dawgs. Mushy chili dog. Nothing special. Disorganized understaffed.
