Don’t go there hungry, prepare to wait.Decided to try this place based on the good reviews. Walked in, was told to sit where we liked. Place was small and tables were too close for comfort. Spanish novelas playing loudly on both TVs. That’s always a sign of a truly local restaurant frequented by hispanics which I don’t mind if I’m dining and dashing but sometimes you just want to eat in peace.It wasn’t busy when we walked in early afternoon and even though it took the server more than a few minutes to take our order, we figured we’d have our food out soon. Mind you, there were only 2 of us and we only ordered 2 pozole blancos. You’d think a place named after that dish would have no problem h...
The restaurant was decent and peaceful, but if you are truly hungry or seeking amazing flavors, this is not the place for you. When I arrived, the restaurant was empty and appeared to be struggling to keep up with its small size. It took 3-5 minutes to receive menus, and I was immediately asked for my drink order before I had a chance to look at the menu. The chips and salsa, along with a small bowl of black beans, were served, but even they seemed lacking in quality. The food was just okay, not particularly impressive. The only decent thing served was the water, which tasted fine. The server was friendly, but did not make much effort to check on us after taking our order and paying the bill...
Best pozole around, I've been searching all over Chicago for my grandma's mexican style dish and I finally found it! Not only was the pozole amazing but the tacos, tamales, and everything else I tried was delicious. It has that homestyle taste that is hard to duplicate and it's not super spicy so you can enjoy it without burning your mouth. I highly recommend this establishment, you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu, trust me I'm a very harsh critic.
This was my first time dining at this restaurant. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff was friendly, and there was a good variety of dishes on the menu. I ordered the potatoes and scrambled eggs, which tasted like home-cooking and were delicious. The portion sizes were ample, and I definitely plan on returning in the future. Mucho grande portions of great food. Small inside, but comfortable space while waiting for food. Be prepared to spend more than 1 hour inside. Everything is made fresh. A family restaurant. No prices on menu so don't know how much I paid but $43 for pozele, tostadas, quesadillas and guacamole.
Amazing! The pozole was great, the service was good, and the drinks were delicious. Yum! Make sure to try the red pozole, it's not too spicy, but just right. Thank you!
