The Premier Diner is the premier diner! See what I did there? We absolutely love coming here for dinner it's been around forever, and so have many of the staff, and you can really feel it. They treat everyone like regulars and I always feel like I'm sitting down for a big family meal together with all of the other customers. I love that they serve a chick pea salad as a starter instead of bread this gluten free babe loves legumes! Best things on the menu: Burgers, chicken fingers, beef barley soup, dessert. I visited the Commack Diner on Saturday, August 1, 2009, and everything was fine — the food, the service, and so on. At some point, I needed to use the men's restroom, which seemed uneventful at first. However, after I finished, I was taken aback — shocked, actually — to find a woman in the restroom. She was a friendly cleaning staff member, simply going about her work. I was still at the urinal and found the situation quite odd and somewhat uncomfortable. Yet, she just smiled and continued cleaning as if it were completely normal! It made me wonder what it would be like if a male cleaner were in the ladies' room! There's nothing quite like a classic diner! The atmosphere was just what you would expect, complete with traditional booths. When we were seated, we were presented with a plate of beets as an appetizer... an unusual choice, but I didn’t mind it. They offer all the usual fare. I would suggest sticking with burgers, sandwiches, or breakfast items, as those tend to be consistently good. I ordered the corned beef sandwich, and I was very pleased with it! The side of coleslaw and pickles was also just right. I would definitely be happy to return and dine here again!
What a fantastic place! The waiter was outstanding and very friendly, with a wonderful sense of humor. Be prepared for enormous portion sizes! We didn't realize that dinner also included dessert—what a pleasant surprise. I had the Chicken Parmesan, which was delicious. The soup was tasty, and the salad was excellent too. This restaurant was excellent! We were seated quickly despite the crowd, thanks to the ample seating available. In the photo, you can see my Western omelette, which came with whole wheat toast and home fries—it was delicious and quite filling, so I ended up bringing some food home. We also enjoyed the challah French toast, along with egg, sausage, and home fries. I will definitely be returning!
I appreciate how quickly you're seated and the excellent service from the staff. The food is standard diner fare, but the prices are much higher than what you'd typically find at a diner. I wish I could say the cost is justified, but there's really nothing exceptional about the experience that makes me feel good about paying nearly 50% more than other local diners.
Large portions of gratuitously dinner foods like salad, should and budgets, chicken prorated different ways, pasta, drinks, etc. Good if you're staying next door in the Hampton Inn and want a meal without fighting traffic.
