Visited with friends on a Saturday night as we were up in Leicester for a wedding the following day. Did a bit of research and decided on this restaurant as we wanted traditional punjabi mixed grill type food.. we were not disappointed with the food at all.. we found the place on a backstreet and in the middle of houses.. the decor really needs updating but I know the family have a lot on and are working hard amid tough circumstances.. my only problem is the flat beer that was being served.. it did ruin the meal a little to be honest.. Best I’ve had for a very long time... in fact probably last time was in Chandigarh that matched this kitchens style, consistency and flavours. Very Tasty and totally delicious. Serious effort has been made to produce the dishes I ordered ... superb dhall , unbelievable chicken jalfrezi , absolutely perfect keema with peas and lamb chops are the best cut I’ve had anywhere ... great family set up that would smash any other kitchen in the Midlands. Marks out of 10.... 20... if this was in London there would be a queue as long as the Thames to get in .. great work by all in the kitchen
Returning from the London International Wine and Spirits Fair as you do, a colleague and I decided to try the Prince of Punjab. I’ve heard a lot of good about it and since it was on the way home; why not? We ordered. The food was very good; spicy but not hot. The lamb was juicy and tender. The naans were excellent! They stayed soft. The rice was perfect. The only downside was the “methi” in the chicken dish; it was burnt. By burnt I mean it was like slightly overdone toast: not a disaster but not exactly what you would have wanted!
I have been to this pub twice and each time I was impressed by the delicious food. Despite the simple decor, the home style Punjabi cuisine is top-notch. It is a family-run establishment and the friendliness of the staff really adds to the atmosphere. I can assure you that if you visit more than once, you will be warmly welcomed with a smile. Have visited this pub a couple of times recently to watch football and enjoy the Indian food. The food is cooked to order on the premises and is of the highest quality, traditional with fresh herbs and quality meats. The portions are satisfying and price is very moderate. Yes the pub itself is fairly basic, but the welcome is warm, and with the big screen football and outstanding food you are guaranteed a pleasant visit. Recommended!
The Indian grill pub food at this restaurant wasn't the best, but it was worth a try in case it turned out to be a hidden gem. Unfortunately, my meal had a strange taste and I was unable to eat it. The menu didn't offer many options, but I guess that's to be expected from a restaurant located on a back street.
Came with a friend on two separate occasions. Went with a butter chicken served hot on a recommendation and can honestly say one of the best curries I’ve ever had. Lovely local family-ran pub/curry house which is an absolute gem in Aylestone.

Brilliant home style Punjabi cuisine with great prices. Thanks for a great day and service Great Bar. Recommend goat, kebab, chicken tikka, garlic naan. Best fish pakore ever.
