Five stars were not enough to properly rate Rare. Even as the restaurant filled there was still a sense of intimacy and quiet enough for a nice dinner conversation. The service was beyond expectations…attentive but not intrusive. Rare is by definition a steakhouse and it did not disappoint. The dry-aged steak melted in my mouth. Came for the caviar which was worth EVERY PENNY, will return for the food, service and ambiance. Allison knew her way around the menu and had great suggestions. The rib eye cap was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The seven sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions and bone marrow were great accompaniments. We loved the garlic ‘rolls’ think cinnamon roll with garlic instead of cinnamon sugar with shaved Parmesan. No room for dessert, but we enjoyed watching a neighboring table devour a beautiful citrus cheesecake
My coworkers and I hosted a customer event at RARE, and it was a flawless experience. After submitting a request on their website, Martin reached out to me promptly to plan the event, which was very easy. Ernesto, the manager on duty during our reception, and his team were exceptional. Our customers thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
The staff was great. I was meeting my nephew who was stuck in traffic. I told the restaurant when I arrived and there were no issues. They offered to seat me at my table or I could sit at the bar. Our waiter, Brian, was very good. My nephew said it was the best steak he has ever had

Hats off to the staff at Rare Steakhouse, The Steak we ordered was done to perfection, Ishmael our waiter was perfect, Prompt service with a smile, Make sure you stop off at the Bar and ask For Angel he will definitely take care of you!! Highly recommended!!
The steak was delicious, but the service was lacking. It was difficult to flag down a waiter for assistance. Additionally, we were initially supposed to be seated upstairs, but instead were seated downstairs in the tavern area.
OUTSTANDING! Quite possibly the best steak I've ever had. We both ordered the porterhouse with loaded potatoes and green beans. It was so good! and the atmosphere was nice and quiet, and our server was excellent. We'll be back!
Our first visit to DC, topped off with a visit to RARE for an outstanding dinner with an outstanding staff. The food itself was fabulous, and our server was knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations.

The food was magnificent and the atmosphere was very private and reminiscent of by gone days at a fine steakhouse. The service was very friendly especially ay the bar. I would absolutely go back!
Rare is an excellent choice for an intimate, casual or business dinner. The food is excellent and you couldn't ask for better service. The ambience is elegant without pretentiousness.
