Went there this last weekend for a late dinner after driving up to Lake Almanor for a girls weekend. Their last seating was 8pm but we made it in plenty of time, and I'm so glad we did. This family ran restaurant had the nicest staff who were all very attentive too our drink and food orders. We had lemon drops to drink from the bar and a variety of food items, the beet salad (our favorite dish), mushroom ravioli, shrimp pesto pasta and the beef stew with gnocchi. Being Italian all of these items were familiar but they all had a different flair and flavor based on the owners family heritage and were excellent. We've been dining at the Red Onion for many years now. In fact we use to go their location when they were in Chester. A true mom and pops business as most nights you see the owners, a husband and wife, working behind the scenes. The food is always tasty, fresh and unique. The service is always good too even when they are really busy. Being able to sit across from the lake outdoors on their patio while eating dinner makes for some epic views while the sun goes down.
I don't eat out much anymore, but when a friend gave me a gift card for the RO I thought, why not. The food was great, the atmosphere was inviting, and the couple of drinks I had were great. I've been back twice with out of town friends. Both had a great time, and one of them is coming up in July with his family. We're planning on spending the last evening of their trip at the RO.
Clearly the best restaurant we tried in this area, and the most expensive. Chicken Marsala: 4/5. The sauce has a nice flavor, and both the chicken and noodles were cooked just right, so I found this dish very enjoyable. The only criticism I have is that I could not taste any of the marsala in the dish. This is unfortunate as it really complements the chicken. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

We took our out of the area family out to red onion and we all enjoyed the great food, service and the atmosphere of the Almanor peninsula. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
