Emmentaler Schaukaserei

Bei unserem Besuch in der Schweiz im August hatten wir die Möglichkeit, dieses wunderbare Gelände zu besichtigen. Meine Schwiegermutter war tatsächlich mit der Frau verwandt (durch Heirat), die uns herumführte. Ich dachte, dass das Zusehen beim Herstellen von Schweizer Käse so aufregend sein könnte wie Farbe beim Trocknen zuzusehen. Da lag ich aber falsch! Das Restaurant und die Käserei sind nur eine kurze Fahrt nordwestlich von der Stadt Bern entfernt. Es lohnt sich sehr, dies zu besuchen. Bei der Ankunft gibt es einen kleinen Laden mit Gebäck, dänischen Köstlichkeiten usw. Sehr lecker und sehr gut. In our visit to Switzerland in August we got to tour this wonderful site. My mother in law was actually related (by marriage) to the gal who gave us our tour. I thought that watching Swiss Cheese being made might be as exciting as watching paint dry. Boy was I wrong! The Restaurant and cheese making facility are just a short trip Northwest from the city of Bern. It is WELL worth the trip to see this. Upon arriving there is a little shop that has pastries / Danish, etc. . Very tasty and very good. There is a shop that helps with all things tourism, along with Swiss knives of course. Wir haben im Restaurant gegessen, während wir die Käserei besucht haben, da es sehr praktisch gelegen ist und eine vernünftige Auswahl an Schweizer Spezialitäten anbietet. Der Speisesaal ist ziemlich groß und die Tische sind geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Sie haben auch eine wunderbare Terrasse für sonnige Tage (nicht unser Fall, da es geschneit hat) und der Service ist nett und professionell. Wir haben bemerkt, dass die Portionen riesig waren, aber zum Glück haben die meisten Gerichte eine halbe Version, die wir bestellt haben und mehr als zufrieden waren. We ate at the restaurant while visiting the Cheese factory as it is very convenient located and they offer a reasonable variaty of swiss specialities.The dinning room is quite big and tables are spacious and well appointed. They also have a wonderful terrace for sunny days (not our case, as it was snowing) and the service is nice and professional. We noticed that the portions were huge, but luckily most of the dishes have a half version, which we ordered and were more than satisfied. My husband had the Käsereirösti and I had the daily special, and we found both to be tasty and correct. We booked a table for a family of four prior to a cheese making tour.I can only recommend this restaurant.The views are stunning (we were fortunate in having a table in the window).The staff were lovely and very attentive,which isn't always the case in Switzerland.The food was delicious and portion size generous.I read a previous review stating that the restaurant is expensive.I don't share this view;the prices are about average for Switzerland.

So many cheese dishes to choose from. Most tourists try the fondue, but we chose the dish of different cheeses, smoked meat and bread. A very filling lunch that can easily be shared with two people.

during a visit to the schaukäserei it is nice to have a bite of well done classic swiss food with local ingredients. we enjoyed it in the gardenrestaurant with great weather.

Wir haben zum Mittagessen ein Käsefondue gehabt, das nicht schlecht war, aber sehr einfach und wirklich teuer. Das Personal war durchschnittlich.

We had a cheese foundu for lunch which was not bad, but very simple and really expensive. Staff avarage.
