To be honest with you I did not know what to expect. I have lived in the area but have never gone to the restaurants in the Vieux Beloeil area, shame on me. Janick was a pleasant surprise. Let us begin from the beginning, the...front of the restaurant very country chic but as you descend to the back of the restaurant where you are dining along the Richelieu River, the atmosphere is quite European with the Blue and White umbrellas..yes I am not naive I know where I am but when you order your cocktail and just sit back...it is breathtaking, looking across the river at the church in St Hilaire. We biked to Janick to have lunch on thier terrasse facing the Richelieu River. When we arrived, waitresses walked by us as we were waiting for a seat without even acknowledging our presence. When someone finally did come to seat us, it was not in...the friendliest manner, hardly even a smile. The waitress showed up a few minutes later and put two glasses of water on the table, we were three people. She later returned with another glass and walked away without saying a word. When she did come back to take our order, she was pleasant, but not really cheerful. The restaurant was busy, but I felt that just a smile can make all the difference in helping us to have patients. With friend for dinner a Monday at 7h. What is good: terrace at the edge of the river Many choices are on the menu Good service once sitting. Ribs are good. Bad: Price: $10 for a design, $30...for a 4 sausage, 4 ounces Portuguese chicken, 5 ribs and frits. portuguese chicken was overcooked and taste nothing. Worst Portuguese chicken I cost so far. sausage was just okay, didn't taste much. Just for Fritten, just ok. was ignored by the staff while they waited for a table until they find us a table, not even a hi. That was weird. It was a ok experience, especially because of the river and the mountain in the background, but I will not return there. There are better restaurants like Josephil.
Ten of us went for supper to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We asked for a high chair for our 21 month old grandson. None available as they were all being used outside. No air conditioning. One waitress to serve, greet clients, prepare bar drinks and look...after cash. Not her fault, she was alone so service was slow not so great with a 21 month old and no high chair! Food was okay. We discovered this restaurant on the internet and decided to make a reservation on the line. We ask for a terrace seating and have confirmed it so. The bistro menu is good and we did it as table d’hote for 2 of us. Apetizers... and wine came in a short time, but main dish came 1 hour later. The waitress kept saying, "It won't be long," but we waited and waited. The restaurant looked busy, but I think they were under the staff in the kitchen. Food was good and presentation was ok
My wife and I and another couple recently had a lively lunch at the Janick restaurant on their terrace overlooking the Richelieu River. I had cooked the green salad with the Argentine shrimp Cajun style while my wife had the salad with the jam... Canard. Our friends had the grilled chicken sandwich. Everyone said their court was excellent. If you are planning lunch on the river Richelieu, this is the best choice among the available restaurants in the old Beloeil.

We only ordered the bbq chicken and pork poutine from here and would not recommend it. Not terrible, but only average. Fries were not crispy enough, chicken was delicious, but needed more spices. Friendly and effective waitresses. Excellent menu, fresh ingredients. Would love to go back. The terrace is wonderful with a magnificant view of the Richelieu River and mountains. Enjoy
