Ricatoni’s opened in historic downtown Florence in 1996 and has been a fixture on Court Street every since. It has been recognized as the go to place for great Italian dishes and to celebrate all those special occasions in one’s life. Ricatoni’s is known for it fresh baked loaves of bread served with olive oil and their special blend of herbs. They also make great house-made pizzas cooked in a wood-burning oven. I've been to several places that offer a plate of herbs and olive oil for dipping bread, but often I can only taste the olive oil. However, at Ricatoni's, they served us a saucer overflowing with herbs, and we added our own olive oil at the table. I’m not sure what that herb blend was, but it packed a punch! The oil helped the herbs adhere to the bread, and the flavor really shone through. On the downside, the duck and sausage pasta was a bit underwhelming. The Chicken Ricatoni was decent, but the grilled vegetables were fantastic—not overcooked or raw, perfectly prepared. My Rotolo di Pollo was slightly dry, and I couldn't really taste the prosciutto or fontina cheese, but the pasta itself...
Just like any restaurant, Ricatoni's had some hit or miss menu items. But if you're looking for the best Italian food in the Shoals area, look no further. The ravioli is to die for, especially the cream sauce (which goes well with your bread! . The Egg Plant Parmesan is amazing if you're looking for a vegetarian option. That have awesome pizzas and scrumptious Alfredo plates. I would avoid their soups and fish plates as they tend to be a little less consistent compared to the rest of the menu. <br/ <br/ Ricatoni's is a great choice for a date night or even just a family dinner, but keep in mind it is a smaller restaurant and can have a long wait if you come during peak hours.
A Florence Staple That Delivers. Ricatoni's is a great place to fill up on carbs, enjoy a laid back, classic, downtown atmosphere and eat some simple but genuinely tasty Italian food. I have eaten there dozens of times in the years I've lived in Florence and have never been disappointed in the food or the service. I recommend the rotolo di pollo, the chicken caesar salad and their alfredo. The Eggplant Parmesan is great if you like Eggplant, but you'd have to ask my wife for details on that. I can never decide what to eat it is that delicious. Some other review said bland? But the dude ordered noodles with Alfredo it's not full of spices and **** it's a buttery milky cheesy dish so his vote should be void. Oh and another review said microwaves were used insinuating that everything is warmed in a microwave there.... This is not Applebee's people. They use a wood burning stove that is beautiful and a grill heated by wood. Oh and the servers are always cute and quick.
We visited this restaurant with friends and had them try the world-famous Tomato Cream for the appetizer. It was absolutely delightful! Next, we ordered the Rotolo Di Pollo, which was equally delicious—every bite felt like a happy dance in our mouths! Our waitress, Taylor, was fantastic with her recommendations and did an excellent job of pacing the meal. Our friends also enjoyed their meals immensely! It was such a joy to share this wonderful dining experience with friends!
While looking for lunch in downtown Florence, a passerby recommended this restaurant to us. I tried the Caesar salad, which came with a homemade dressing, and some Italian bread for dipping in olive oil and herbs. For my main course, I enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana with a side of pasta, and it was very tasty. The prices were reasonable, and the lively atmosphere, set to a backdrop of country music, made it all the more enjoyable. I definitely recommend this place!
I have been comming here for years. Great atmosphere. The food is excellent. My favorite is the ravioli. Service was friendly and efficient. We had a small wait and went to on the rocks for a quick drink across the street while we waited. Including our wait time we were in and out in under an hour. Give it a try!
