While this is indeed a Japanese-run Japanese restaurant, I wouldn't say the fare is particularly 'authentic' or 'real'. That said, the word 'authentic' often gets abused in food reviews, among other arenas of life. I think a more accurate description of Rin would be "food typical of a small Japanese restaurant in the suburbs", which in itself, depending on your situation, may not necessarily be a bad thing.
I think I felt most let down by the salmon teishoku, which was supposed to come with twelve pieces of salmon sashimi. Admittedly there is no objective definition of exactly how big (or small) a 'piece of salmon' should be, but in all good faith, I think the folks at Rin have really...

I admit this wasn't our first selection for dinner, but I'm glad we went here. The service is outstanding and there are so many meal choices to pick from. I got a sashimi platter which was well presented and fresh. Tasted superb. Wife got a variation with the miso soup and rice. The soup was spot on. This rates up there with my other favourite Japanese restaurant. Place is busy on weekends so I would recommend reserving a table. I would go back if I'm in the area again.

After driving down from Coles Bay to Hobart, we were looking for a Jap place for lunch. Read the reviews and decided to make our way there. Parking was along the road. The restaurant was small with a few tables but crowded. Service was friendly. Food was good. We had ten don, ramen and Udon. Ordered some sushi to share too. Very delicious the ten don and various types of tempura. I saw others having their set bentos. Seems quite decent too. Highly recommended.
Ich war nicht sicher, was nach dem Lesen der meisten Bewertungen erwartet wurde. Ich war angenehm überrascht über die Qualität des Essens. Die Tempura Udon hatte eine schöne aromatisierte Brühe mit knusprigem Tempura, die eine großzügige Füllung hatte. Viele Orte heutzutage neigen dazu, mit dem Teig über Bord zu gehen, und Sie können nicht einmal schmecken, was drinnen ist. Dies ist bei Rin nicht der Fall. Würde es empfehlen!
I've been to Rin many times, and always enjoy the food there (though I must say I don't vary my selection much)! It seems to be getting more popular, and as I usually go on the spur of the moment, I don't want to have to book!
Köstliches Essen hier. Miso-Suppe war der beste, den ich seit langem hatte. Ich habe auch den marinierten Rindfleisch-Don, viel köstlicher Aroma und viel Nahrung, bestellt. Freundlicher Service, gut preisgünstig.
