My dad used to bring home fish and chips from this place after work every once in a while years ago, and it was always a special treat! The recipe hasn't changed: the batter is perfectly crispy, encasing moist and tender fish. It's just as delicious as the fish and chips you'll find in England, but at much better prices. I've enjoyed Royal Guard Fish Chips for many years, and I've never been disappointed. It’s the closest I've tasted to the authentic experience in Stamford since returning from active duty, six of which were spent in Scotland. There, I had fish and chips at least once a week, always with HP sauce and wrapped in newspaper.
I ordered fish and chips and some shrimp. The fish was very Dowie and soft and the quality of the fish was mediocre. The french fries were probably frozen and unfortunately, so was the shrimp.. also, they don't even make their own tartar sauce. I would not repeat.

The food here is fantastic! I've visited twice already. While I’m not a fan of the lack of air conditioning and the decor is a bit unusual, the fish and chips are crispy and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend giving this place a try! Food rating: 5/5.
The service was quite unprofessional. The food is decent. On Fridays, they really need to hire extra help due to the crowds. The person at the counter was also very rude. Overall rating for the food: 3/5.
Exactly what you want a chippy to be. No frills. Fried seafood at very affordable prices. Adequate little dining room the value is there. The staff is lovely. An easy Friday night dinner.
I went with my co worker they gave us 2 tiny little pieces and is the 2nd time already not going back again
