we were walking our dog along O'Connell street when we stop for a bit to see the menu on this restaurant, the manager came out with a water bowl for our dog , I thought that was very nice of him for it was very hot that day, I didn't realize the bowl was there until my dog start drinking, I was sold instantly for the hospitality and gave him the thumbs up and reserved a table for three for outdoor dining. we live in western sydney , and we are spoil for choices when it comes to the very best vietnamese cuisine , the food here is nice but not great but the service and friendly staff is excellent , overall i was satisfied with our meal along with a pet friendly dinner experience enough to won...
5 star. I am giving this because the last time I remember coming here, we were celebrating one of my best friends birthday. It was one of the most memorable and greatest nights of my life. She is no longer here with us, it was the last time we got to celebrate like that for her and this place gives me comfort knowing that we got to share that special moment together. We visited this restaurant for dinner with two adults and our 4-year-old. We ordered a bowl of pho, fried rice, and stir-fried beef. The pho arrived piping hot, and I asked for a small bowl for my son, as he couldn't handle the large one. The staff informed me there would be a $2 charge, but I explained it was just for my little one. They provided the small bowl but still charged us at the end. I understand charging for an extra bowl if someone is only sharing the pho, but this felt quite unreasonable. I was disappointed and won't be returning.
Took our order through ubereats and apparently have their own driver, an hour after our food was meant to be delivered we called to have them tell us they didn't know when their only driver would get around to delivering to us and suggested we could cancel the order. I drove there to pick it up myself and the food was sitting in a bag on the bench and had obviously been sitting there the whole time as the food was completely cold straight out of the restaurant. The laksa in particular was a tad on the sweeter side. However we needed a small side bowl (eating with a child), and were charged $2 at the counter. We were not told it was charged when the waiter gave us the bowl as we assumed it was free (like most restaurants). When I addressed this they refused to remove the $2 and proceeded to charge us the extra. Unfortunately this didn’t make the experience very nice, I’m not sure we will be visiting here again:
I took my partner there for our anniversary . It had been two years since I was last there and I don’t know if they just have a lazy new chef since then or what but the special Fried was NOT SPECIAL it was tasteless and had black burnt bits in it as if the wok had not been cleaned. Very disappointing had been there 6 times in the past . Will not go back again
We went for dinner on a sat night. Very busy. Looked like they were short staffed like many businesses The staff they had were really working hard trying their best. Bit of a wait for the food, but well worth the wait. Everything was well cooked delicious. Best to book before.

Saigon Gate on O'Connell Street offers a fantastic selection of vegan and gluten-free main dishes. They are incredibly delicious!
