This is a fast visit to Adelaide, we got a referral via our family member. Who is a chef & gets our appreciation of great food.No doubt about it, we enjoyed a great night last pm at this newly established restaurant. Atmosphere, food & staff were excellent.Standouts for us were the yellow fin tuna, Ma PO pot sticker dumplings, octopus char grilled (wow). Char grilled chicken & again really sensible approach by Chef offering 1/4 or 1/2 portions. This permits an opportunity to taste different dishes. Food was ok. Bit over priced for what we had which was the set menu for 10 people. Highlight was salmon entree and dessert but forgot to take picture of dessert. Had a piece of thigh chicken that was undercooked - pink and clear near the bone. Sent back to kitchen but chef thought it was ok. Other chicken pieces were slightly pink but still edible. Felt sorry for the girl sitting next to me. Start of the night she had a waitress drop a dish next to her which had food on her chair and food all over the floor but staff were very quick to clean up and apologise. End of the night another waitress picked up a plate and the cutlery on the plate dropped into her lap with left over food - this w...

Dined at Shobosho a couple of weeks ago for lunch. We shared about 7 different dishes between the four of us. Some of these included the raw tuna and soya bean salad, miso dumplings, Wagu beef yakitori, chilli beef dumplings, cauliflower salad (a stand out), teriyaki chicken (we could have dined on the spring onion stone baked bread alone - it was delicious) and a special of charcoal grilled Coorong Mullet with pipis. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly. The food was very tasty and well presented. Being able to hear, see and smell what is happening in the kitchen adds to the whole experience. I was really hoping I'd love this place, but it missed the mark for me. I normally love traditional and modern Japanese food, but found the dishes here way too rich. There was a lack of flavour balance and the dishes don't seem to mesh well together. Some items (e.g. tuna, prawn cracker) were severely over-flavoured and too salty for my tastes. Prices are crazy expensive especially compared to portion size. Ambience is nice, we were seated at the bar which seems to be the practice for couples, but I didn't mind as the open kitchen is very entertaining. Service was great, we were well attended-to throughout the evening. I think this would be a fabulous place for a cocktail with friends...
This Restaurant is in it's very early stages of a big future. When you book for either ask if possible to sit at the bench top to watch the kitchen dance and find out how tough and hot it can be. The food overall is very very tasty, great choices and a clever mix of Classical Japanese cuisine served in a modern way. The lotus and seaweed chips are an excellent start, Mayura Waygu skewers absolutely Delish, the tuna with smoked soybeans was magnificent, great dumplings, and innovative dishes such as charcoal leeks and snake beans with XO sauce was a standout on top of a great meal. We were seeing a show at the Festival Centre and to Shoboshu's credit they fed and watered us in time for the show. Really nice atmosphere here. We were at one of the tables at the front but we weren't forgotten about. The menu has a variety of plates from smaller to larger. We opted for some dumplings, a couple of serves of yakitori, the flathead karaage and the bigger swordfish plate. All were tasty. Keen to return for a less rushed meal so that we can work out way through the menu.
Well we went today and all i can say is thank you Shobosho. My husband and i had a crazy cocktail called Ume-spritz to start which is japans answer to aperol spritz and i lobed it. Then ordered some food. Beef pot stickers and chickdn tsukune to start. Well i dont know were to start it was amazing. Then 1/4 chicken and snapper karage. Ammmmmazzzzing. With a ministry of clouds chard to wash it down. Teally pushed ourselves to share a ice cream sandwhich and im glad we did. Thank you Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
A delightful lunch at this establishment. As a party of two we were promptly seated at a booth. We shared a number of dishes, all of which were flavoursome. The ramen lunch special and snapper karage were standout dishes, although there wasn't a dish we didn't enjoy. Our wait staff were all lovely. Would definitely recommend a visit here.
