I have been to several Malaysian restaurants across Sydney. They offer similar basic items on the menu like Roti Canai, Nasi Lemak, Sate, Curry etc. Some have very strong flavours. Sambal is the one in Macquarie Park and is located on the Main Street, at...the right end of a row of shops. The entrance is at the side where the outdoor seating is but guests can also enter from the parking which is directly at the back. The dining room is quite simple and the kitchen is located in the middle. When we went there on Saturday, all seats were occupied or reserved and we had to wait around 20 minutes. Apr 2022: The owner has ceased the business. Quite authentic Malaysian food by Malaysian owners. We were lucky to get a table during Friday lunch hour. There was some queue after us. The food was also being served within minutes of placing our orders. We tried fried koay teow with medium spiciness but it came out pretty spicy. The koay teow here is slightly thicker than those we get back in Malaysia. The satay was pretty good with thick peanut paste. The lor bak was rather thick but that means with full filling which was a big bite for the mouth.
we had taken away from the 23rd mai and were quite impressing with eating. the curry puffs were fit, but the huh and prawn laksas were far below expectations. the chicken was very dry and the garnels were chewing and probably months old! The...laksas lacked additional vegets and were not particularly tasteful. perhaps the fact that two of the chefs (one man and one weeping) a prolonged and heated argument (in the kitchen) in full the paying customers affected quality this evening!
Busy, no fuss Malaysian restaurant with tasty food! Food came quickly after we ordered, you can hear the wok working overtime in the kitchen. We ordered the chicken laksa and the mee goreng. The laksa soup was not too rich or salty, the extra sambal on the side was the perfect touch. There was a generous amount of chicken and noodles too. The mee goreng was not my favorite, it lacked a bit of flavor. I would go back and have the laksa again!

this facility is operated and owned by authentic nonya owners from penang malaysia. I have visited the restaurant in the last ten years and always had a great experience. it is located directly opposite the hotel marriott courtyard and is convenient to the macquarie university. they have a well-rounded menu, friendly staff and is byo. a must visit restaurant when they are a fan of Malaysian nonya kitchen.
One of the best south east asian cuisines in Sydney. They have nice Hainan Chicken, Sambal Dishes and desserts. Free parking in front and behind the restaurant. Staffs and owner are warm and friendly. Good seating arrangements for both big and small groups. Highly recommended.
Hit and miss. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food lacked spice and flavour. It’s unfortunate as the menu looks incredible and I feel that with a little more inspiration the food could be amazing.
the best Malaysian restaurant in sydney. they make an ingenious char keow zuew. I feel back in small. the only negative prices are somewhat higher than other Malaysian restaurants, but it is worth paying extra.

One of my favourite Malaysian restaurants. Always friendly and quick service. My kids love the chicken satay and hor fun. Great for lunch and dinner. Highly recommended!
