A Sicilian friend told me this is not real Italian. We, however, decided to decide for ourselves after having read a positive review in The Detroit Free Press. Having lived in Italy, I have a high bar for what constitutes 'real Italian '. This restaurant fell short. We had to ask to be served water after having been seated for ten minutes or so. A short time later, the waiter brought my husband 's beer first and my sparkling water close to 7 minutes after that. We had to ask for bread which our waiter told us was in the oven. Just hosted my husband’s 40th birthday party here. We rented a private room and the food and service were just amazing. Miguel took great care to plan our event and made sure we had everything we needed and delivered on all aspects of our agreement. The private room is just beautiful with a personal bar/bartender. Miguel even set up a TV in our private room so that the boys could watch the NCAA games. Our server Cole was absolutely phenomenal. He was professional and just made it all happen, including refilling and serving MANY bread baskets. Thank you Cole. We hadn't been to Sapori (flavor in Italian) so, being in the neighborhood, decided to give it another try. We came early, around 5:00pm, but weren't the first arrivals. A surprising number of folks dined early there. Menu selection was good. Our selections were prepared promptly and arrived at the table hot. Compared to other similar Italian offerings, they were above average, but not top of the line. There are one or two better Italian restaurants in the commuting area. Wine choices were very good. We did not try any spirits. Overall, when we are in the neighborhood again, we'll be back.
My group of friends enjoyed delicious food and the service was outstanding. We never felt pressured that we were taking up table space. Our server Len was gracious and attentive to our group. We will definitely come back again.
Had a great dinner Friday at Sapori.. The waitress was a little busy (not a big deal so the owner noticed right away and took great care of us.. Food was delicious :
