I called ahead to ask if they had a veggie burger, and they were like “um no,” and the way they said it was kind of hilarious, as if to say, “Honey, we serve MEAT burgers here.” Once I got to the cool little spot the way it’s laid out encourages patrons to talk to each other, and I had several nice interactions with other diners during my visit I ordered a deluxe single hamburger with a 1/4 order of fries (it was PLENTY of food) and a bottled water. Still kicking after nearly 100 years. Schlenker’s is a hometown favorite, serving up some of the most-delicious burgers in the State of Michigan. New owners recently took over and they now accept credit and debit cards as payment forms. For nearly its entire history, it was cash only. While paying with a card is a lot more convenient, there is a 3.5% service fee so I still pay cash. We moved to the area and we're told about this burger place we needed to try. I'm glad we did! I'm picky about my burger and this tastes like it's fresh as if your Mom cooked in her kitchen. Now if your Mom can't cook then it will not taste like your Mom's. The burger was amazing. The atmosphere has that old school burger joint type feel. Sit in at the U or get it to go, but the atmosphere is friendly, and welcoming. Best burger around.
Called and they say hello, I said hello, they say hello I said is this schlenkers they said yeah she said can I help u I said I would like to place an order. The olive burger at this restaurant is absolutely amazing! We grabbed some burgers before starting our shift at the prison and they were perfect for satisfying our hunger. Highly recommend!
I have traveled to many places around the world and have tried burgers in numerous states, but none compare to the one I had at Schlenkers. To the staff at Schlenkers, you guys are amazing!
