Had lunch here with some of my colleagues. We ordered ahead and picked up our meals. They food was ready (and hot) when we arrived so pickup was easy. I ordered the Butter Chicken Delight (I ordered this dish because it is the only chicken dish they offer with purely white meat). It comes with rice or naan bread (I had the rice) and a samosa. You can also buy samosas individually and they have baked or fried, vegetarian, chicken or beef. The food was fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. The portions are pretty generous for lunch. They do have a few tables inside the restaurant, but not too many. I have eaten here before and will eat here again.
Went to Shaan's Curry House for the first time today, after hearing great reviews from some co-workers. I got the butter chicken delight with a samosa, and it was amazing! Such a great authentic feel to the restaurant which made the experience that much better! If you are ever in the area, and you enjoy Indian food, then definitely go check out Shaan's! The man who served me was also such a friendly man, who helped me go through the menu since it was my first time there! A great experience, will 100% be going back!
I have been coming here for years and always love it. I still do love it, but I am very disappointed with their new menu and the price change. I always order the big meal vegetarian, which was great value. It use to come with rice, salad two curries, lentil soup and naan bread. Now, the prices went up and they removed the lentil soup. basically pay more and get less. I will not be returning anymore. It is unfortunate because it was my favourite place to stop in for lunch.
The butter chicken was the best I have eaten in Ottawa. The beef curry was nice and had a bit of heat (probably tamed down a bit for me). We ordered a Big Meal combo with extra naan and two vegetable samosa's. The service was fast and staff were very polite. My only complaint would be that I didn't think the naan was on par with other east Indian restaurants. Parking is not great. We are regular patrons at this restaurant. Unfortunately tonight we witnessed an unacceptable food order. Mood was present on our nan bread. Giving the restaurant a chance we called to inquire about the mood, which they blamed on a marker. Really? Green mood color markers? Stomach is now at ease and so is our regular service with this moldy giving restaurant. No longer customers.
A hole in the wall in a local strip mall, but don't overlook this restaurant! Well known locally, Shaan is known for great classic curries. It's also now available for delivery through SkipTheDishes! Their Curry Chicken Meal, Chana Chicken and Butter Chicken are always great choices, but make sure to get extra naan! Great food for the price.
I really like this place for a quick lunch or dinner. Eat in at one of the few tables or take out to go if you want. For about $8-9 I got a lentil curry, naan, and side salad. The curry was piping hot, well-spiced and creamy, and the naan was warm and fresh. I really enjoyed the salad dressing too. All around great place to eat!
My very first time at Shaan Curry House was pleasant. most people come here for takeouts. The dining area is small but clean. Lamb curry is tasty, and my boyfriend simply loved his chickpea and bean curry. We've found our new favourite takeout restaurant! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We take out from here often and always say it's the best curry we have ever had ! It's small and we don't eat in as close by .. Excellent value also .. Phone ahead and go pick up as it's worth it !
