Awful awful awful place to eat! I've been here (Capalaba Park) 3 times, giving them the benefit of the doubt, hoping they just had a bad day the last time. But we will never be back after yesterday. And evidently, Shingle Inn Australia has no...plans on rectifying issues that previous customers have had, leaving customers disappointed and damaging their own reputation. Firstly, when ordering, they had run out of pancakes so my son had to choose a different option. He chose the kids pizza which was a JOKE! Literally just a thick pita bread that he couldn't even bite through, small enough to fill a side plate. When asked whether we wanted a tomato or bbq base, i assumed they meant pizza sauce....
I’m old enough to remember the original Inn in the city. The ridiculously airy cakes that nearly floated off your plate; the dumb waiter down to the kitchen below; the pots if tea to go with your cake. This is the memory. The modern day...coffee houses that display the name still have the charm, but coffee has become the beverage of choice. Baristas are the essence of any great coffee. I’m not sure if they all get the same training, but the Capalaba Shingle Inn always delivers a fabulous cup. Just the right temp for it to be hot but creamy smooth. Birthday lunch with a friend, both ordered the chicken crepes with avocado. Menu says it's a crepe stack, reality was a pie wedge size slice of mush that you couldn't even distinguish the layers. Not only that, it had been microwaved to within an inch...of its life so all the corners were rock hard. Didn't see any avocado. The salad was a handful of salad leaves with one cherry tomato cut in half, a slice of carrot and lots of onion. Seriously for $40 for two for lunch, and we both drank bottled water, it's not good enough. The serving size was pathetic, although considering how awful it was, perhaps that was a blessing. Never going back.
Yesterday afternoon, my friend and I visited Shingle Inn Capalaba. I ordered the bacon and halloumi sliders with fries, along with a large chai latte, and it was absolutely delicious. We sat comfortably in one of the booths, enjoying our food and conversation. The customer service was excellent and our order arrived quickly. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, making it a perfect spot for a get-together with friends. We will definitely be returning, although I would recommend bringing a cardigan as the air conditioning was a bit cool. Overall, it is a charming cafe that is definitely worth a visit. the halloumi and the Mediterranean salate ordered. the sweet potato was raw, the mushroom olives and aubergines tasted as if they were from a dose. the menu said with lemon drowned and it was drowned in oil, no taste of lemon. Unfortunately, it seemed like sitting around and waiting for someone to order it. I thought it was fresh. the coffee was in order, but I will not be in a hurry to order a meal from here in the future. would expect a little more for $16.
Shingle Inn, Capalaba Park Shopping Centre just keeps getting better. A great place with catch up with friends. My friends and I are doing it monthly now. Staff are helpful, polite and friendly. They really don’t mind if you sit for a couple of hours...enjoying yourself. Central location and easy parking.
The service and food at this restaurant were excellent. I especially enjoyed the coffee. I went with my family and the kids really liked the cafe atmosphere. We always enjoy visiting this place.
