A special evening was planned without the children... we were greeted pleasantly on arrival and seated in the upper section of the reasonably quiet restaurant - would suggest here that one does request a window seat for the Southbank flames on the hour. After ordering the Lobster white eg omelet in a bowl - where was the lobster?? we asked to sit by the window as a table had become vacant. This is when things went downhill. A waiter came about an hour later and started to remove our plates - we informed him that we still had 3 dishes to come!!! We had been forgotten in the move. Silks is a restaurant I've dined at many times over the years. This most recent time was a banquet meal with a group. As much as I've loved dining here in the past, In this instance I found the banquet style dinner to be a bit ponderous. None of the dishes really stood out The wine list seems to be a little narrower these days as well, not offering much breadth of selection compared to most of the other iconic Chinese establishments around the country. A great evening celebrating my sister's birthday. We have been to Silks many times over the years and it never disappoints, it is a very classy looking restaurant with great service and food. The flames from Crown just outside the window add to the ambience. The dishes we chose were so good - Peking duck, stir fried Japanese scallops, and lamb in Mongolian sauce - all perfect!
Staff were very friendly and attentive. We had Santa come and join us for a lovely chat which was a great suprise. The food was exquisite. The atmosphere and dècor was classy and elegant. We did the weekday lunch special. The food was exceptional, from lobster dumplings, to the seafood noodles.The staff were very attentive and the food was of a very very high standard.The special had 3 rounds of dumplings and a main and a glass of wine per personWe could hardly finish, it is alot of very high quality food.Will be back
We were invited by our Australian business partners to dine here. Chinese food... but as a Chinese, I would appreciate real Chinese food which I unfortunately found something lacking here. On top of that, it is pricey. Come here for the ambience, not the meal, though I appreciate the thoughtfulness of my hosts.
A lovely atmosphere over looking the river. The service is very unobtrusive and professional. Every dish was filled with flavour and quietly replaced after each serve, together with fresh cutlery. Wines very expensive but this was not a surprise for a top restaurant, but be ready for it.
