We try a different restaurant each Saturday night in Hurstville and tonight we chose Simmer Huang. The interior of the restaurant is very nicely decorated and there is a variety of seating options available. Being a couple, we were seated against the wall at a table for two. This seating is a bit squishy and next time we'll opt for a booth style table. Maybe because we are westerners and tend to be a bit bigger, there's not a lot of leg room in these tables for two and my husband felt uncomfortable.The staff are wonderful, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful. This place is a little non assuming and certainly didn't prepare us for the good food nor this uncommon style of cooking where it's done in a pot in front of you. You do have options on the number of courses and how hot the spicy will be but essentially you choose the proteins and veggies and let them cook away. If you like the surprise of not knowing quite what is happening (unless you can speak Chinese) then you'll love this place. Everything was cooked well and tasted great.

I use to eat here when i could. The food is really good if you want something new and exciting in terms of flavours. However, the service is quite average and the value for money is really bad.. The only times i really tried to eat here was during their 50% off special. They charge a lot for a meal that needs to be cooked in front of you and takes another 15-20 minutes of staring at.
Interesting food, great service. From the moment we stepped inside looking a little out of our element, we were looked after. The waitress patiently explained the ordering process & concept, answered our questions, confirmed our written order, and checked in on how we were enjoying it, all with a smile. A fun & tasty experience.
Wir haben diesen Ort geliebt, als wir in Hurstville lebten. Ging ein paar mal dort. Liebte das Konzept des Kochens des Topfes auf dem Tisch direkt vor uns. Wir können würzig essen. Die handgefertigten Nudeln sind großartig. Der Topf ist zu viel für 2 und wir haben die Reste immer zurückgebracht.

Finally I found simmer huang abroad ! It's one of my favorite restaurant, the dishes is so good !
