I used to love this local pizza place that served sourdough crusts, but it seems like they have stopped caring about the quality of their food as their business has grown. I ordered a savoury sourdough pizza with Nduja, pepperoni, mascarpone, and scotch Bonne chilly honey to take home, but the pizza had an overwhelming amount of honey drizzled on top that made it inedible. The cold mascarpone placed in the center of the pizza made it impossible to eat in slices, forcing me to remove it altogether. It was a disappointing dinner and I can't understand why some places lose sight of the importance of serving good food.
This Margherita pizza at Sodo is possibly the best I have had in a long time. It was baked to perfection with a perfect balance of great, locally and sustainably sourced ingredients. While some may argue that Yard Sale has the best pizza in Clapton, I believe Sodo is overlooked. The prices are what you would expect from a trendy pizzeria, not cheap but definitely worth it. The only downside for me was the Karma Kola drinks that Sodo and other restaurants serve, as I found them to be too sweet and in tiny cans. Apart from that, this is a must-visit for pizza enthusiasts in London.
I wish now I had complained. £4 for some 3-4 day old lettuce masquerading as a green salad with a few small shavings of Parmesan on top. Chefs that send this sort of food out are totally lacking any care and professionalism. I bet they wouldn’t like to eat it, still less pay £4 for it. That’s the negative over as the two pizzas were served hot and tasty but for £11 and £9 respectively could have been more generous with the amount of toppings. The service staff were friendly enough but overall a bit disappointing.
I've lived in Clapton for 7 years and never experienced Sodo and I'm kicking myself for it. Hands down the best sourdough pizza I've ever had. The toppings are high quality- I had the Wickerman (pepperoni? with extra cheese (not that it really needed it . It was delicious and the dough has almost a sweet tangy yeast taste which is outstanding. I won't order pizza from anywhere else and will definitely go to the restaurant when I can. Brilliant. Only 1 star as not possible to add zero. Food arrived stone cold, tasteless and the salad went straight in the bin as most of it was slimey and inedible. Worst take away experience, especially considering the prices.
Great pizza, great wine, great outdoor area. Our waitress Angel was an angel, even though she did convince me to get the pricier wine! Would go back for sure.
First time last time. Brilliant pizze. Loved each pizza we had, great crust. Buzzy atmosphere. Small outside bit at the back if you can get a table.
Really fantastic pizza, great toppings selection and a beautifully crisp base. The starters we had were also amazing we had a fantastic time there.
