We were in the west side of the city to enjoy a nice evening walking in Assiniboine Forest and afterwards realized we were really hungry! So we looked for nearby open restaurants and found Spice Circle East Indian Restaurant, which I'd never heard of or been to before. We decided to stop in for a couple of appetizers and a Thali platter.The menu is a Manchurian Indian menu with approximately half vegetarian and half meat items. Meat items include chicken, lamb, goat and even to our surprise, shrimp biryani!I got the goat thali, and found the curry to be delicate and well-seasoned, although we could have got the hot instead of the medium and still been okay. We tried out Spice Circle based on the good reviews and we weren't disappointed! Authentic and fresh food. Will definitely be back.We had a appetizer platter with samosa, fried Paneer, and Pakoras. The lime sauce that came with them was refreshing. We also had chicken kabobs, goat biryani, veggie korma, and garlic naan. Loved them all! Word of caution, we ordered the biryani a 7 out of 10 for spiciness and it was very hot for us. But our very attentive server quickly brought a bowl of yogurt to tame down the heat. Worked like a charm!
Fantastic service and delicious food! We ordered the lamb Marsala (hot and medium), which has become our favorite dish at this restaurant. We also enjoyed the karahi paneer, a delightful vegetarian option. I had been here before, but it was my parents’ first visit, and we all loved it! This place truly stands out. Our server was very kind, making the experience even better. It’s definitely the best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time!
Restaurant offers 10% off to customers who post a 5-star google review before paying. Would have liked the washrooms to be cleaner. Toilet and sink were clean, but other surfaces looked grubby (e.g. door and waste basket lid). Most of the food was very good, although we didn't like the sauce that was with the chickpeas. The food was good and the service too. We ordered Samosa and Manchurian and both of the dishes had Indian touch.Vegetarian options: There are plenty of Veg options and if you are craving Dhabha style food then this is the right place to come.
I picked up my husband from the airport, and his first request was to find some good food. So, we headed straight to this restaurant. They have the best lamb curry and chicken biryani in Winnipeg!
