While visiting the Daintree, we decided to take a break and have a quick coffee and some food. This cafe was a wonderful find, with a friendly owner who was very accommodating. The atmosphere was peaceful and not crowded with typical tourist groups. The owner took the time to chat with us about the resident cassowary that regularly visits the cafe, and shared valuable information about the Daintree area. The toasties and scones with cream and jam were delicious and reasonably priced. It's definitely worth a visit. The owner even gave me a 'sapote' fruit to try, which supposedly tastes like chocolate pudding.
We stopped in for lunch and bumped into people telling the owners they had just seen a cassowary on the boardwalk trail that they own and starts by the restaurant (for which they charge $3). We ran off and saw no cassowaries, came back and had a very nice lunch and got some great tips for seeing a cassowary (walk quietly, stop when you hear movement and wait a minute or two till it resumes, then look around) and then went down the boardwalk again and a cassowary crossed about 3-4 meters from us. The owners also showed us a sunbird nesting out back. Thank you! We got much more than just a nice meal.
We stopped here to have an adult beverage. The didn't have any, but my daughter enjoyed a great smoothie and the service was great. We chatted with the proprietor and he was nice enough to give us some information and tips for our Daintree day trip. He also talked up the fan palms so much that we just had to check out the boardwalk to see for ourselves. This walk was a happy surprise. While we didn't see a cassowary, we did enjoy checking out all the foliage. Overall, this was a pleasant and informative stop.
My sons and I stopped in here for lunch and a rainforest walk in October 2016. The hosts were so lovely, the food great, and the rainforest walk just stunning! We also bought some cold dishes at lunch time that we took back to our accommodation and heated up for dinner, having spent many dinners out already and just wanting a quiet night in. Recently reopened cafe with delicious food passionately made on the premises, I had the vegan banana biscuits which were amazing. Garry had a gourmet chicken pie with quinoa salad which he said was delicious. They have a boardwalk through the rainforest for cassowary viewing if you are lucky enough to see one.
We visited this restaurant today for a coffee and were impressed by the owner's friendliness. The boardwalk is fascinating and we enjoyed a tour with Steve Wilson, who was knowledgeable and entertaining. It was definitely worth our time.
This is a very good place to go for a light lunch with many good vegetarian options. The host also offers a guided nature walk in the nearby bush and while we were there a juvenile cassowary walked slowly through the property.
The lunch was fantastic and it was entertaining to see the snakes and birds freely roaming in the garden. The food was slightly expensive, but don't let that discourage you from visiting. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Delicious coffee and cheesecake with great service and in depth knowledge if the area. An invitation to a jungle walk, we couldn't unfortunately time constraints! Great stop.
